Edited: Can I slouchify these Garnet Hill jeans?

I need new jeans. Skinnies don't love me unless I wear a tunic or dress over them, so I'm giving up on them and going back to straight leg, bootcut, and slouchy jeans. I used to wear boyfriend-type jeans loosely rolled up a little with oxfords, docs or creepers, and I like the way that look flattered my slim hips and rear end, while downplaying my full thighs. The main images on the Garnet Hill site aren't that inspiring - they look a little "mom jean-ish". I prefer some of the alternate images with the hems rolled up that you can only see if you click through on the color swatches.

The reviews are all over the place, so I thought I'd ask here. Anybody tried these? What do you think of them?

I have no knowledge of these jeans but they don't look like Mom jeans to me.

It's really hard to tell. I've often thought to purchase their pants or jeans, but never have (no free returns) I usually stick to Gap or other stores I know I can return easily (and free). I don't think they necessarily look like Mom jeans, but they do have a higher rise. If you're wearing them slouched down a bit they could work.

I always find things I like on Garnet Hill, but I'm not a fan of ordering online, particularly jeans. I try on 40 pairs before I find the right ones, and I know the issue of full thighs, believe me! If they have a good S/R policy it would be worth a try!

These look very cute and rolled up could be great. But I'm with Beth Ann on how darn hard it is to find good fitting jeans IRL, so the odds of good fitting jeans when you don't know the brand's fit is pretty low.

Hove you looked into boyfriend jeans at Gap? I haven't myself, but I've seen them pop up here and there on fashion bloggers and they always look very cute in them. . .

Everybody's right that I should go try jeans on in person. Its hard for me to find time to go shopping, and I really hate shopping for pants in general & jeans in particular so I've been putting it off. I live walking distance from a Gap, Nordstrom, Macy's, and dozens of other stores so accessibility isn't an issue. I just need to carve out some time and make it happen.

I wear a size 16, and I have a thick waist, narrow hips, a short rise, and very full thighs. (My proportions were exactly like that when I wore a size 8 I'm realizing. Couldn't find pants that fit back then either!) These days I am in that irritating gray area in which regular sizes are often too tight on my thighs, and plus sizes are too roomy around my hips and rear. It's time-consuming to shop both plus and regular sizes to find the right fit. I find jean-shopping nearly as demoralizing as swimsuit shopping, but I'm going to have to set aside a few hours and make myself do it. <Groaning>

So it really sounds like your time is worth more than a few dollars to return something that doesn't work. I change my advice to order several styles and sizes, return what doesn't work and order multiples of what does. Take measurements of what works and keep that in mind for future purchases.

From the pictures, I think these jeans look promising for you. They're boyfriend, but not a literal man's jean. The fact that the thighs are still slim keep them from looking like a mom jean to me. I hope you can order a bunch and try them all on in the privacy of your own home.

Maybe even order from Nordstrom, Gap and Macy's knowing you can pop into the B&M stores to return without having to pay postage, too. Good luck! Just do it!
