Interesting! I have felt the Gap has been on fire lately -- great returns to basics with revamping their jeans and launching their dress pants lines, and they've had tons of interesting tops and sweaters. But the article makes a great point -- nothing really goes "together", and that's been a problem for a while.
They were in a huge slump before Patrick Robinson got there, and he deserves a lot of credit for turning that around. I worked for them at Forth & Towne, and a large part of why that brand failed was because Gap itself was such a drain at the time. They pulled themselves out of that by bringing Robinson in. Will be interesting to see what happens next.
