Have any of you fashionable fabbers seen the new Gap wide legs in person, or tried them on? I like the casual vibe, and the idea of ponte knit, but fit and fabrication are key!

They come in several colors. At 5'6", I'll probably have enough length.

So very true, Thistle, and Gap fit has been bad for me in recent years! I can tell a lot just by touching the fabric -- which is a good part of the reason I only shop online when there's no other option.

Wow, these look a lot like all the BR work pants I wore in the late 90's - early aughts. Except different fabric. Are people ready for this?

Greenjeans and Sterling, the workpants I remember were more fitted through the hips, and with less width than these. If all I had seen was this photo, I wouldn't have looked twice either. My interest was piqued by the way they're styled on the website -- slightly slouchy, with sneakers and bomber jackets. I see them as more akin to the athleisure pants of recent years.

I'll have to get my eyeballs on them -- may have a chance today to get to the mall.

Where are those pictures, Beth Ann? I can't find them...
I love this kind of thing in theory but in reality find it tough to find the right footwear. None of the stock photo/video options seem quite right to me; the flats look terrible (I'm projecting a bit here as someone who used to unsuccessfully try to pull off wide pants and flats...)

Jules: I hear you on the difficulties of styling wide legs, particularly with flats. For me, however, if they're seriously wide and drapey -- intentional -- the look works much better than a standard straight leg or typical work trouser.

For now I am finding the wider trouser not working for me unless wearing higher heels. The model is. So I don't have the tall rangy build that works for flat shoes with these pants and am not doing semi- tucks.

Viva --- I'm mostly just interested in varying my pant silhouettes. In my new job, I'll be entering people's home to work with their children/youth. I'll be moving about, playing instruments, etc, so all those pencil skirts (or shorter skirts and dresses) are out. I'll also have to be careful not to look like "Mom," "Maid," or "Ms. Corporate!"

Style Fan and Suz: I'm hoping they work too, but if not, I'll simply call out, "Next!" and move on!

Unfrumped: Will they be JFE? I'm not sure yet. I like the ease and drape, which I find can work, even on a curvy frame, without high heels. We'll see!

FWIW, I ordered some after reading Una's post and love them. They DO feel like PJs and fit my narrow hips, belly and flat behind very well. They are hella long though, even in petite! The comments say the listing misrepresents the length and I agree. Did you get some to try?
