I just received these wide-legged, cropped, high-waisted chinos from The Gap, and thought I'd report in. The short story—I love them. I ordered both colors, a green and a white, and liked both. The green is not really an olive, but a fresher green, and a really nice spring color. I had sized up to a 12, based on the reviews, but they are big on me. I think they fit true to size and maybe even a little big. The fabric, 98% cotton, with 2% stretch, is great. Though billed as high-waisted they aren't on long torso'ed , long-waisted me. The legs are wider than they appear in the images, but that's fine by me. I like that look, and enjoy the swish of the fabric around my legs. The length was perfect for me right out of the box, and the deep released hem is a great detail. The only quibble I have is the lack of real pockets in the front. They have a small watch pocket, but that's it. I love to shove my hands in the pockets of my pants, so that's a bummer. However, they tick all my other boxes, so I can live with the lack of real front pockets. These are a real winner for me, once I get the right size. I plan on keeping both colors. Right now they are on sale on Gap's website, plus there are coupon codes that further reduce the price. Most sizes are available.
