Gap Utility Jacket: K/R?

I have a sugar eye for soft pink this spring and, inspired by some of the pink utility jackets I’ve seen here, jumped on this one when I saw it on Gap’s website. I ordered it in a tall but am thinking the sleeves are too short (to my surprise), unless the style of the jacket includes not-quite-full-length sleeves. I can always roll the sleeves up, but I anticipate sometimes wearing the jacket because I actually need the warmth, in which case I would need the sleeves to be unrolled.

And seeing the pictures, I’m not sure about the fit. It looks rather wrinkled. The creases in back are from being packaged. I’m too in love with the color to see objectively; please help me out here.

Pretty color on you!

Not sure because the pic is small on my phone, but it looks like it might be pulling a little at the hip? So I’m not sure about the fit.

Hi - the fit in the body seems off to my eye . These jackets should fit loosely with more ease through the body . Length and shoulders look good though . I saw it in the store and loved the colour too , but the one I saw was in a very soft and wrinkly twill - so I bought it in denim instead .

Janet, it doesn’t feel like it’s pulling at the hips, but it looks like it, doesn’t it? Sigh.

Lisa P, this is the twill jacket, and yes, it’s very soft...and wrinkly.

The color is beautiful. It is wrinkly so that may be the problem. I'm not sure about the jacket but I love your dogwood tree.

This is a tough one for me.
The color looks wonderful on you and I like the way it fits on the second photo.
My doubts are with the fit on the 3rd photo from the back.
These kind of jackets are supposed to fit looser but not all of them have to be A line shaped like the one Angie had ,IMO.

I too am distracted by the beautiful color of the jacket and the beautiful tree, but I think the fit is off. I think (and I am better at saying this than practicing it) shoulder fit is key, especially on relatively unstructured jackets, and this looks a bit big in the shoulders.

Great jacket but the sleeves are ruining it for me. I have long arms and I can't stand too short sleeves. From the back it looks like the jacket needs shoulder pads--those diagonal lines from the armholes. If you can use a jacket that is a great color and roll up the sleeves and leave open it is great. If it were me, for my requirements, I'd probably send it back.

The colour is lovely but I think the shape is wrong sadly.....

Jackets are hard to alter I think so can be harder to find. There are a few pinks around so I hope you can find one that works.

What a pretty co,or. Is there a bit of hem on the sleeves that could be released to create a raw edge? I will probably do this with the hem of my white denim pencil skirt, and maybe some denim jackets that seem too short now.

It is a lovely colour but I would be thinking along the lines of LisaP in terms of fit.

I’m thinking a slightly shorter length may help too in terms of proportions.

I like the colour with your pretty shade of grey hair, Windchime.

I'm with Lisa and Jane on the fit. It's snug on the hips, and this type of silhouette should fit more loosely. Better when it's unbuttoned. A larger size will be too wide on the shoulders. I vote pass.

Fit is wrong - return and keep looking. The right garment is out there waiting for you, Windchime. Like Angie says: 'Next!'

Just chiming in to commiserate on the cut ... I had the same trouble with a jacket pulling across the hips recently, and I'm not very big in the hips! Why do they cut them that way *sigh* ... hopefully something even better is on its way to you!

I like it but I would try a size up. I would like to see a looser fit.
