Gap Selvage Jeans - how much do they stretch out?

Has anyone owned a pair for a while? Do they stretch out much? Shrink in the wash?

Here is my dilemma... I ordered the 1969 Original Fit Selvage Jeans in two sizes. The smaller size is slightly tight in the waist and lower hip. The larger size is perfectly slouchy - I can pull them down without unbuttoning them. But I don't want the larger size to get any bigger (or at least not much bigger), and I'm concerned that the smaller size won't stretch out enough. So which size to keep?

I have a pair of Gap SBFs that are 100% cotton but not selvage and they stretched out quite a bit. The reviews for the Gap Selvage jeans say to size down, but other websites about selvage say that selvage denim shrinks significantly after washing. So any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I have two pairs. I didn't notice that they shrank at all in the wash (washed on cold, hung to dry). They stretch a lot. Definitely go for the smaller size.

I bought a pair for my daughter that I ended up wearing for a while before passing on to her. They did stretch out quite a bit with wear, at least in the wash (rinse) I had. That might be relevant, too, by the way. I washed in cold or cool and air dried. My daughter has since stuck them in the dryer and they have shrunk a bit.
