GAP promotional adjustments: Did you know...

...that if you place an order with GAP (and I'm assuming BR and Old Navy too since they're one big happy family) and you receive a better promotional offer than the one you used to place the order, they will issue a promotional adjustment?

I just had the most pleasant conversation with a customer service rep when I called to cancel my order for the floral bomber jacket. I ordered it yesterday using the 20% promo advertised on the site only to be emailed an offer for 40% off today. I was going to cancel and reorder at the lower price, but the rep told me about their promotional adjustments. My new total is well below the $50 minimum required for free shipping, but I still get to have my goodies shipped for free. And speaking of shipping, I ordered the Angie recommended printed moto jacket and it arrived today. I was really pleased with their shipping speed.

Anyhoo, I just wanted to pass that info along and give GAP a well deserved shout out.

I know Amazon will do this too (although only within seven days) after you buy something if the price drops), and Cost plus/world market gives you 10 days, which can save you a lot during their continual furniture mark downs.

Thanks for the info! I have to say, I find their online shopping to be flawless - the delivery is super-fast and I never have a problem returning (when needed, which is rarely).

Yup. I've done this before, too.

It still frustrates me to no end that they issue promo codes so bloody often. Personally I think that balances out their willingness to do an adjustment and makes for a a good customer experience rather than a great one. I'd be happier if they lowered their prices a bit and made the sales really sales instead of everything being some percent off for one day/week/weekend only almost all the time.

And Emily, I agree 100% that they run these sales too often. A few other stores are guilty of this, too. It's trained me to never pay full price at those stores because there will eventually be a sale of up to 40% off.
