Gap Ponte pants?

Just saw these and per my usual late adapter self, I might give them a try with the 25 % off sale they are having this weekend, only because of all the rave reviews on here about ponte pants! has anyone tried or seen these Gap ones in person?

I do have a few concerns...

1) they are ankle length. Maybe they'll be longer on you though.
2) the fabric. I tried cotton ponte pants at INC and they were awful. Their rayon siblings were 10000x better.
3) lack of pockets. It makes them look a lot more like leggings to me. And even the title calls them "leggings pants."

I would have to see them on, but if it were me, I'd give them a miss.

They also come in regular length (and tall)
I think that I walked by these in The Gap yesterday. If I'm remembering correctly, the fabric seemed nice and thick.

Just to clarify what I meant: The cotton ones I tried were thick but super clingy and very tight, definitely more like leggings. The rayon ones draped better and skimmed my leg rather than clinging to it. A lot of the reviews also say they look more like leggings and that they are very tight fitting. They are also filed under the leggings category, which is not encouraging to me. If you want to try them, I'd definitely go to the store rather than ordering them.

Maya - you addressed spot on my concerns - namely the lack of pockets. I actually just did a search and was re-reading your post about your new ponte pants. do yours have pockets? (the link to Macy's is gone because they are sold out)

Mine are very pants-like with trouser pockets in the back and a hook and bar closure in the front. The other style I liked was the 5 pocket version that looked like jeans, but the ones I got are better because they look a bit dressier and I can wear them to work. I don't think they have pockets in the front but I'm not sure. I can't check because they are at the tailor.

I have not seen the ones at the Gap - but I just picked up a great pair at Fashion Bug for $12.00 !!

They are very similar in style to the ones at the Gap, but without the belt.

Isabel....oh, that is intriguing. I have not shopped there in decades but I actually have one not terribly far away. Are the ones you bought on their website? I'll go do a search. I'm thinking of trying to stalk Maya's from Macy's too bc she only paid $23. I'd like back pockets I've decided. My tush needs back pockets

Ann Taylor has ponte knit pants!! I saw gray and black in the petite section. Almost identical fabric to the Inc pants. I did not try them on though.

Shiny, I bet those are super high quality. I need to go back and read up some more on everyone's review of their pants I don't mind spending a bit more if I will really really wear this item but I'm thinking I might spend $35ish max at first to see how much I wear them and then duplicate if I do end up wearing them a lot.

You've been pretty happy with yours right?
Everyone who has them seems to swear by them!

agrace- check out the ones at NY&Co. I can't remember what they are called, but the pocket zips up. I have those, and they are really nice. Nicer than the Tommy Hilfigger ones that I got at Macy's.

LOL....I haven't been in a Fashion Bug either since the 80's but my mom bought some nice things for my sister, so I decided to check it out for exactly the reason you said. I haven't had a pair of skinnies in over 25 years - but I love ponte knits and have great trousers from JJill, AT, and ATL. I didn't want to commit a lot of money. ( I have seen the AT ones and the fabric is almost identical, though theirs has a nicer cut. )

These fit the bill - except that they have no pockets..but the local store sold them for $12.

Agrace, I have been very happy with mine. However, I have just noticed that the gray pair is starting to pill a bit on the back thighs (where you sit). I don't think it's noticeable unless you run your hands along the fabric, and I suspect they can be easily de-pilled. The black pair has not pilled - but I wear the gray more often.

I suspect this is going to be a hazard with any ponte knit pants, regardless of price.I think I have gotten my money's worth out of these from a cost-per-wear standpoint, so I'm not too upset about it. But I do think it's worthwhile getting a deal if you can!
