Gap Long & Leans and some thrift shopping!

I've been in the market for a new pair of boot cut jeans (my two pairs of David Kahns are no longer "dark" wash, I've worn them so much!), so today I thought of Angie's endorsement and decided to check out the Gap. I haven't had much luck with jeans there in years, so I didn't have high expectations, but... Lo and behold, the dark wash L&L's fit me and looked good! I found the regular length just a smidge too short, and I was wearing flat boots today, so I went for the longs, figuring that I can get them hemmed if they're longish with the 2-3 inch heels I typically wear. So thanks, Angie!

I also popped by a nearby consignment shop and the local Goodwill, and for some reason went skirt-happy. I scored 5 new skirts for a grand total of $24. BCBG, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor... All nice stuff!

One of these days I'll get up the nerve to post pics here of my outfits.

Janet, I also bought the L&L's in the dark wash. I haven't had a chance to post photos yet, but will to get input on the length. I bought the regular length, but am now wondering if I should have gotten the talls. Mine are just at PPL with 1 1/2" heels. I would love to see your new finds when you feel comfortable posting pics. Sounds like you got some amazing deals.:)

Angie, we are the same height. Did you get the regular or tall length?

Well done, Janet - and your skirts are just in time for spring! I bought a new skirt last week, too, so I'm now working out how to style it. I'll be watching for your posts! The L&Ls sound lovely - looking forward to seeing them

Debora, you might find that even if you are the same height your proportions might make the ideal length different? I am petite (5'4") but 32 is just long enough on me for low heels. I'd love to say I was long-legged, but I think I am just extra short bodied:D

Lynne, you're so right about the height/proportion issue. I'm 5'7" but a 32" inseam is too short for me. Drives me nuts because some jeans lines, like Calvin Klein, fit me well but are very hard if not impossible to find in a longer length.

The skirt scores are fun because I've recently decided not to save dresses and skirts for some kind of dress-up occasion. I have some excellent boots and tights that look great with skirts and are plenty comfortable. Over the last few years I defaulted into a shirts-and-jeans habit that's gotten boring, so it's time to step it up!

They do. I have issues with my thighs so I have a tendency to hide my legs, but I have embraced knee length skirts. Shoes and leg wear have so much more impact with a skirt that I find it really does take a bit more effort to put together a skirt outfit than a jeans outfit. But it's worth it, especially when my husband has been telling me everyday how cute he thinks I look.
