The costume designs are gorgeous. Perhaps some of the embroidery, velvets and furs will influence fall/winter fashion. Mad men definitely made a splash in fashion, although, fit and flare dresses and sheaths are far easier to wear and modernize.

Hmm, it's been on for at least 2 years now, hasn't it? I wonder how long it takes for that sort of influence to diffuse into mainstream designs.

Bring it on! I'm a huge Fantasy nerd and started reading the first book in 2000 (you think it hurts waiting for the new season? how about 5 years for a new novel?). LOVE the show and all the clothes.

I can't lie -- part of me would love to wear that blue getup Dany was wearing in last night's episode.

I think I'll pass on Margaery's cleavage outfits and all the furs in the North though.

I'm not sad either. I am not into GOT costumes one bit. Is that weird? But I am enjoying the story and the characters - although I am also very frustrated with the storyline at times. My favourite are the Dire Wolves!!! Love Ghost's costume best :).

This is just the second season starting. I love love love this series, but I find the costuming well done as opposed to being clothing I want to wear. I just don't know about dark ages tailoring...

Yeah, I'm with Rachylou, I love them as costumes. However there's something about the exaggerated silhouettes, seaming, and textures that I love and would love to see transferred into something I could actually wear.

Angie, if you like the series, IMO the books are a million times better. I mean, the series is good... but the books are better.

YES, Dana!! I believe so. I am watching GOTs with three other people who have read the books and they know what's going on - whereas I find it all quite confusing. We often have to pause so that they can answer my questions. It's hard to remember all the Kingdoms and names of the characters - and to keep them in context if you haven't read the books.

I could wear this outfit happily, in my every day life, um... minus the slave whip and cloak. I think this is the one Janet referenced too - Daenerys has been wearing it for several episodes.
Love the costumes as costumes, and I would love to see them as fashion!

I was reading a costuming blog and the author mentioned all the Northerners wear drawstring collars, but I noticed Sansa has given hers up this season.
