GAH! I don't want to shop anymore! But why is my closet SO BORING?

Standing in front of my closet, I just think BORING BORING BORING even though I know it's not, and all i want to do is go out and buy crazy stuff!!!

Please stop me

How can I be inspired to actually use what is in my closet? Should I force a SYC?

I battle this all the time!! Just pick an item that is weather appropriate and try to make 3 outfits from it that you have never worn before. I work at home so don't have to impress anyone, and I will just grab something I haven't worn, in sometimes years, and put it on. It may take awhile to find something that goes with it, but there usually is....if not....it may go bye bye!

Hmm; I think my closet is cohesive enough that all of its pieces can go with at least two others I may have a bit of fun tomorrow.

I think that's a great challenge! You could also try to come up with a new color combo you haven't tried before. Or find some outfits you're inspired by and recreate with your wardrobe items.

Lyn from what I have seen you have an awesome wardrobe. I find I tend to feel this way as we are heading to a change of seasons and am experiencing similar feelings about my wardrobe too. I find if I just push through and try and be a bit creative with my combinations I see light at the other end

I know what you are going through.

What I realized this weekend is that maybe I have too many clothes in my closet. So I ended up purging lots of clothes this weekend and giving them away to goodwill. Now I don't feel so overwhelmed looking at my closet.

I would not call your closet boring! Maybe you have worn all your clothes a lot and need new stuff (we women get tired quickly), if so, and a few fun and trendy pieces that you can wear with what you already have!

Change of seasons. ALWAYS happens. Hang tight, maybe buy a new scarf or belt or shoes, and then see how you feel.

You have a closet full of lovely clothes and I'm sure like others have suggested that you can make some new combos or new color schemes, but if you are that bored, go buy a couple of affordable trendy pieces to perk things up and give you a fresh perspective. I do agree a new lipstick or nail polish can also do wonders as a little pick me up.

Ah, I have this problem, and the season here is still just hot hot hot. What has helped in the past has been the picture perfect challenges that go around YLF. Somehow, thinking about specific color and texture combinations took the focus off of shopping.

How about a following challenge: pick up an item from your closet and pair it with something you have never wore it with before. It can be a different color, shape, texture, pattern...can be fun!

*lyn, I am finding it hard to believe your closet is boring! Do you feel like it's "done"? I know you were pretty minimal for a while. Or are you attracted to totally new styles? I think of your style as modern girly with a bit of edge... But perhaps that's changing?

I wonder if your big move might be leading to a style shift --- sometimes one change leads to another. It could be that your "closet boredom" is the first signs of this. Now, I like your style as is -- you don't need a transformation to look great -- you already do. You might need to think about changes that help you "feel" great!

I think it's also possible the end of season boredom is coming into play. Thank heavens this week is cooler in the midwest, and I'm getting to play with BF jeans!

This happens to me too on, what I now realize is, a regular basis. I've been thinking about moving things around in my closet to *de-invisible* them... not that I have the time.

I like the idea others have suggested to try new outfit combinations that you haven't worn before. Also one or two accessories can perk up a tried and true outfit.
