I lost Gaea tonight on her 7th birthday. She died peacefully at the vet laying on the floor with her head in my lap.. She was so weak that she was unable to lift her head, most likely due to heart disease. Her heart was half the size it should have been. It all happened so fast. This morning She was fine one minute then she could not stand up so off to the vet we went. Her heart rate was very slow one minute then very fast. They were unable to stabilize her. The vet called in the early afternoon to tell me she was doing so much better and I could pick her up about 5. They had her on an IV drip but when I wen to her cage she gave me a small wag of her tail then I started discussing the plan with the vet and within 15 minutes she started failing fast. By the time we got her out of the cage we both could tell it was the end. I will miss my baby girl dog immensely.
