I have come around to this look, reasonably late in the game. I think it took me a while to get over the idea that it looked like wearing roadkill...or worse, like something Sonny and Cher wore.

But the ones at ATL look really, really good.

The first one is no longer available online but I saw it in store and the sweater part is quite a chunky knit, which I know is usually not as flattering. I'm not sure if I'm really creative enough to style either one though. Both are too expensive for me at the moment but ATL has coupons and promos all the time so there is hope...

I like number 1 better - it looks more like a fur stole (which I find very elegant). I think the fur vests add ALOT of bulk up top.

I saw both in store too. I actually lean towards the second one more. I'm okay with intentional bulk. The first one might provide unintentional bulk because the knit is so heavy and chunky though. I also like the looks they're showing with the first one. I am just not sure if I can pull it off or if it's terribly practical.

I agree with you on the bulkiness on the first one. I guess I'm just too vanilla fo the second one. LOL. I bet you could pull it off though.

Maya- have you seen the one at H&M? It's very similar to the second one (which I like better) and much less.

I've been seeing these shown everywhere but so far no is actually wearing them. I like the ones that are a thinner fur more than the thick ones...which still look like a wookie to me. But my eye is adjusting to the look overall.

Hmm tough choice, I vote #1, I like the idea of the furry-ness wrapping around the arm, very edgy.

Khris, I haven't been to H&M in a while but I will check it out. I hope it will be cheeky enough for me. The ATL one appealed to me because it comes in a petite.

So weird, I just tried both these on today! If #1 did not have fur at the armholes it would be my preference just because it's more versatile for indoor wear!

I passed on both because they seemed too warm for normal indoor wear. If I got one it would be #2, because I don't like the fur on the armholes of #1. #2 is more general of a style that could be styled in many different ways.

That's a good point Jenava. I'm cold easily though so maybe that would be good. I wonder how it will fit under a fitted coat though...

My husband was with me and brought up that exact issue! I think #2 you could wear over your outerwear...FWIW...

I have two, one cropped and very similar in color to the one in the second photo and one similar in shape to the one in the second photo but darker.

I wore it almost everyday last winter on the top of my brown leather jacket. Love it they are warm and trendy.

This winter faux fur vests are a must have!

I like number 2...I also tried the one at H&M last year..VERY cool!

I WISH I could pull this one off....I have such WIDE shoulders and HUGE head. When I tried it on with skinny jeans (I just happened to be wearing them that day) my legs looked like a balloon string dangling from my gigantic head.....I believe I even started to levitate!

Like I said...I TRULY love the look but I don't think I could manage NOT feeling like the Furry Floating Balloon Headed Girl....that's just me! ^__~

Be warned, girls, the fur vest trend has really taken off in Copenhagen, and I am yet to see any of the tall, blonde, Nordic, gorgeous-to-begin-with girls here look good in it..... the ones I have seen are boxy and neck shortening. Louise, you are tall and slim and if anyone can carry off this look it will be you...but to anyone who is not totally in love with these I would say proceed with extreme caution.

I saw those vests in ATL the other day and was so surprised. It's not what I would have thought of for the Loft's style - so I guess furry vests really must be mainstream now. I actually liked the look of the 2nd one better in the store, though I didn't try it on.
I'd love to see you try them. It would be a very different look for you.

LOFT has a new, more fashion forward design team Kari. Otherwise I would probably have never even known. They're still not what I would call edgy or hip or anything, but they do have some nice building blocks compared to their former offerings, which were really basic.

I have a long neck and I don't mind boxy silhouettes, so I am not bothered by that. The modes look fantabulous in them. Granted, I am not a model, but I also don't let that stop me from trying new things in general.

I have no reservations about the look itself, just the practicality and how much use I'll be getting out of it.

I went to H&M but did not see any furry vests. I saw one at Lord and Taylor but it was quite long. I think the ATL one is ideal because of the cheeky length.

Maya #2 fit very well. I agree the length of it is really perfect. If it weren't for the rather basic practicality issues around how to wear it I'd get it in a heart beat.

Maya, I think you can get away with the bulkier look of number 1 because of your thin limbs and long neck as you don't mind adding volume to your chest/torso. Are you looking to layer this over you coats/jackets?

I am curious when LOFT got their new design team because honestly, I haven't seen any sudden changes with the brand. The BF cardi that Angie highlighted in her blog post is pretty much identical to the BF cardi that they offered last fall (and spring). They've always had a bunch of pretty blouses/tops and there's always been a small selection of slightly fashion forward items (which usually either sell out or don't sell at all!). I have actually seen one too many J Crew copy cat looks there for the last year!

Ann Taylor and LOFT re-vamped and re-designed a couple years ago. LOFT has all Ex Gap people at the very top...they are the ones who have hired new design team...The change has been slow and steady..Actually Ann Taylor is remarkably changed up as is the LOFT.
Boyfriend cardis are a staple and never really change. the change comes in the form of current trends, wearable items and the fabrication.:)

I definitely see a change in LOFT. Not just in the clothes themselves, but in the people who shop there and work there--I'm one of them! I really used to really dislike LOFT, to be honest. It was one of my least favorite stores and I could not understand why so many YLFers liked it so much. I found it completely devoid of any personality. Now I'm eying several things I like. There are furry vests, slouchy sweaters, stirrup leggings, OTK boots, cute little menswear hats, etc. This is not the LOFT I used to know. The old LOFT was boring prints and patterns and bland casual wear. If I needed something really basic I would peek in, but it was hardly a store to get excited over. I still wouldn't categorize it as extremely fashion forward and trendy, but that's fine. They are opening themselves to a new demographic without excluding their old one, which is probably a good thing.

You are quite right Maya...they are very current and YOU are there target audience!!

I actually wore the vest out of the store today after I bought it...It is much cuter on...I will see if I can get hubby to photo and post for you!
