Having gotten on with things after The Miami Sunset Bag Problem, I am thinking about these two little stunning treasures! I change my bag most days, and I like a smaller bag, so they can easily sit on my knee on the commute! I love the gold hardware and they are Italian.

The petrol blue seems a super colour with the blues and greens in my wardrobe and the red, is just a happy colour I think. I have loved my Boden red bag, but it is nearing The End for work.

And I have fallen in love with these scarfs. https://sabinasavage.com. So many to chose from but because I love our labradors, I think this is the one for me!

I would love to know what you think.

First, let me say I am glad you got past the frustration and heartbreak of the previous bag. Both of your new Finds are GORGEOUS. I cannot help you. I love red!!!!!!!!!! Sadly I love navy as well!!!!!!! I am torn.

The hardware on the blue bag makes it look expensive, doesn't it?

Yes to the labrador scarf and the RED bag! I think both are great fits for your style and would make you smile to wear. Kudos on great finds!

I think you should keep both bags, and the scarf. I love the scarf. The bird on it is a roseate spoonbill, I believe. I saw them a couple years ago in Texas.

I am not a bag gal but both bags are very luxe, and the colors are interesting but seem like they will mesh well with your wardrobe. I also got the impression that you were thinking about keeping both and I think that sounds grand.

The real bird is a slightly prettier pink than the scarf bird Both gorgeous bags, my choice is the red, otherwise you will still be subconsciously searching for another red. Which would be OK, of course.

Thank you Sterling! The YLF support got me through (how can a bag call so much heartache!!!). Sterling, eek, full disclosure! Yes! I am thinking of both bags!! They are still in the box with tissue, so I need to think carefully.

Thank you Joy. I don't have shoes, but that is in part because I wear smart sneaks on my commute and then change to heels / boots when I get to the office. I would love to be able to have matching shoes and bags, but the trauma around finding fitting shoes in the same colours, even thinking about it, is scary!

I am a very prudent shopper and am exceptionally budget conscious. You must think carefully, but I endorse keeping both bags.

I am also budget conscious. I have a slightly different feeling about bags than clothes and shoes. Personally I find the costs of designer bags prohibitive to my personal sense of spending, but I think that is “just me” in terms of my puritanical upbringing. I might be able to overcome it better if I truly loved bags, but most handbags don’t actually do anything for me. They don’t make my heart sing. Some clutches do, and I have gathered a number of those over decades, as per a recent post. I do however feel that for those who adore bags, using Angie as an example, that the bags may well be used for decades and are more of a collectible than clothing and shoes which perhaps date more? So I kind of feel it’s more in the realm of buying a piece of furniture or an ornament that you really love. And that if you can afford it sensibly, then it’s a better use of discretionary spending than more clothes that you cannot actually have enough days to wear. This is merely musing and I don’t know about it, it isn’t advice!

I am glad that you have recovered from the bag ordeal. I am not a bag person but is that red the right red for you? I can't tell from the picture. Maybe you want both.

I wrote a long reply of caution yesterday, and don't see it here. Huh. Anyways, the short version of it is: bags with envelope closures can be problematic and fussy. I just bought one , and am more than a little annoyed. Just wanted to throw that out there.......

That said, quite like both bags AND the scarf

The seaming and the hardware on the petrol bag seriously up its style. If you only choose one, I would absolutely make it that one! Additionally, while I haven't found envelope closures on bags to be inconvenient, I do always worry about how secure a bag with an open or almost-open top is. A zipper is secure, but I don't find snaps or magnetic closures to be enough for my peace of mind. YMMV, of course, in terms of security and convenience.

Jenni and Sterling. Wise words indeed. Sensible cautious appropriate and welcomed thank you. I think hard about stuff, because too much bothers me! I am also wary of thinking that this one item / dress / scarf / bag etc will 'change my life' as sadly it never does!! But I need to dress well for work, because I am an emotional dresser and once well dressed for the job, I feel the job is mine! Budget wise, both are entirely manageable.

LisaP, I know what you mean about the flaps. Thank you for taking the time to re write your wise words of caution. This is one of bags, (larger than the one I am thinking of) has worked out well for me. Usefully, the blue one has a little back pocket, which will be perfect for my ticket for the commute.

Echo, thank you, I am wary of the security issues too, and generally carry these bags on the crook of my arm or in my hand, which helps.

I agree whole heartedly with Echo regarding security issues. I would say that I NEVER carry a bag that is not completely secure.

Yet I carry these.

Look. Open because I rarely bother to zip them up. That flap gets in the way and I am always in a hurry.

I am full of contradictions.

Whatever your final decision, Jane, I support you. I know you will have given it much consideration and thought it through to the end. Best wishes.

Oh, these are all so lovely and I think would serve your style incredibly well. The scarf is gorgeous and of course, if you love your labs, well, then that would be a huge happiness factor as well. Both of the bags are beautiful and could easily take a place in your wardrobe. The red jumps right out at me and prompts a big smile. Love! The petrol blue is a more conservative color, but will not go unnoticed. The styling and hardware garner second and third glances (let’s be honest....stares). All pieces are such lovely examples of Italian quality and style. You will wear them well. What will you choose?

Aww to scarf! And yes to happy Italian pet family! But I agree that flaps can be fussy. I ended up passing on a rarely used bag cause of it.
