A few weeks ago, I asked my 21-year-old son to start thinking about what he might like for Christmas. It took him quite a while to come up with any requests at all, but recently he finally asked for two things: a portable typewriter and “one of those wizard robes like you have.”
He calls my Johnny Was duster (see Find) my “wizard robe” and tried it on a while back. I have to admit, he pulls it off, looking way more rock and roll than I do on my best days.
He vastly prefers secondhand clothing and has no compunctions about what gender is on the label, so I’ve been stalking eBay and Poshmark looking for a similar embroidered duster that might work for him. I just scored the one in the photos—pre-owned Johnny Was. Nobody tell him!
