Can I first add a disclaimer that I feel a tad shallow worrying about what to wear to a funeral. But I kinda thought it may help someone in the future for reference.

but what jacket to wear with it and which hat? Originally Angie said it was okay to go with the trilby as it was a young persons funeral but i picked up the other black hat for a song.

I like your dress very much but can't see the jackets very well. I think I'd like the black blazer with sleeves rolled down and the smaller hat the best for the funeral, but all the jackets look fine as far as I can tell. The military jacket looks most like your style but doesn't seem to go with the hat you are wearing to my eye. The hat does go with the dress, so it probably doesn't matter.

I like the wide brim hat and I like the first two jackets. To me they seem the most appropriate. You did a great job making your selections, not an easy job.

p.s. not shallow at all. I think it shows respect to the person and their family that you care to dress approrpriately.

I like both hats and the second jacket. I slightly favor the second hat because it has no color in it.

I agree with Sihaya - not shallow at all.

Love the dress. It is hard for me to tell, but I like the first and last jackets best with the solid hat.

I think you are doing a great job to dress for this occasion Louise, I'm voting for wide brim hat, it looks better on you I think.

Yes Louise, you're incredibly shallow. I mean, to the extent that worrying about what to wear is shallow, I'd say we're all pretty shallow. But worrying about what to wear for a funeral is actually LESS shallow because that's an occasion where dressing appropriately is much more meaningful - you're trying to show your respect for the deceased, that matters a lot more than what I wore to the gym today.

I couldn't see the differences between the jackets very well, but I did really like the wide brimmed hat. And the dress looks great!

It is a beautiful dress. Wear it with the tuxedo jacket and the wide brimmed hat for this occasion. And if it is shallow to care about what to wear to a funeral then I wish all people were so shallow. I find it offensive to see flip flops and cutoffs at weddings and funerals.

To me, your making such an effort to care how you dress is not shallow.

I think it's a wonderful and very caring way of visually demonstrating a subtle, yet still powerful message to this poor young man's grieving family and friends that he mattered very much. That you care enough to dress beautifully with care and effort and style on such a sad, but very important day. So, no more talk or thinking you are shallow about this matter, OK young lady? (Can say that as I am much older than you! <tee-hee!>)

I think the dress is stunning. I like all the jackets on you, although am wondering if in real life the navy and the black could clash a bit? (I have no idea on such matters as you know.) And I actually like both hats as well. Goodness, I haven't been much help, have I? I do know however, that whatever you choose will be a lovely tribute to this young man's life, of that you can be certain.

I think it will depend on the weather so I'll make the final decision on the morning. If it's cold and windy like today the trilby, if it's warm and sunny the wide brim hat and either the tuxedo jacket or the black blazer x

From what I can see I like the first two photos the best. I don't think it's shallow. It's an important occasion and focusing on the outfit can also be a way of coping which is just fine IMO.

Louise, you are the furthest thing from shallow, I think I prefer the BF jacket and the wide brimmed hat for the occasion and shelter from the sun. I wish you well for such a difficult day.

Great dress. I like the BF blazer with it. I have no clue about hats, but they look good on you. I think planning what to wear to a funeral is thoughtful, not shallow. Good luck on this difficult day.
