Quick question about the versatility of this color. I struck out at NAS and am considering these. Initially, I wanted a dark brown boot but now I think I want something different. What do you think? Too light for me? I pretty much live in denim. TIA

(It's called Slate burnished antique. Has anyone seen this IRL?)

Love it from what I can see. I have regular slate Veronicas and it is a versatile color. I can only imagine the burnished version would be extra special, with that worn-in effect.

@Cathy: Thanks! I was going back reading posts on the Veronica's. I know you ordered a half size up--but most of the review said they were true to size. Geez, I wish shoes were cars--I'm finding car shopping to be excruciatingly painful! I'm thinking slate will bookend my hair soon. This injury is aging me!

ETA: Okay, they are ordered. Stay tuned for K/R, assuming I can get these on the injured leg!

I look forward to seeing them on you! They are gorgeous, and personally I love the color. Goes with black, brown, gray, navy, sage or olive greens--all the neutrals I tend to mix up in my own wardrobe. I can definitely see them on you, too; they're a softer color to match with denim, for a fun change.

Thanks, Firecracker. I tried on several at NAS but none of them were "the" boot (kind of like your coat experience.) I've got rugged black and browns and kind of wanted something a little different (plus I need a lower heel.) Hopefully, they will look like they do in the picture and hopefully I have gained enough range of motion in my ankle to get them on!

Love them!! I just bought some Veronicas in black suede on the shaft and smooth leather on the foot. They are kind of addictive and I want to replace my grey buckle moto boots that are falling apart.

I got my normal size and they fit perfectly.

These are gorgeous. I picked up a pair of grey Cole Haan buckle boots at my first year of NAS and wore them until they wore out. So I vote yes, the lighter color can be quite versatile. You can wear the light color with lighter bottoms or bookend with a lighter top.

I am a huge fan of the veronicas - I have the black ones and they just keep getting better everytime I wear them. I now want a second pair so am stalking sales - tough to find in Canada.
These ones are fantastic. My only concern based on my experience is they are hard to get on - tugging required.
I hope this won't be the case for you - worried about that achilles.

Glory -- stalk gravitypope.com -- they are having a 30% off sale prices now, that is where I got mine from. Mine are black, but they get different colours in each year. I am definitely going to keep my eye out there. SoftMoc sometimes has the brown ones on sale.

Thanks for the affirmation! I've wanted Veronica's forever. I liked the tall ones, then thought I'd get the Shorties, now I want the tall ones again. I had a break through the other day and was able to get an unzippered boot on my bad foot. Finally! I can only get my Carsons on but I feel like range of motion is only going to improve from this point on (fingers crossed.) I need a lower heeled boot and find the soles of my Docs too stiff. Hoping that the Veronica works out in terms of color, fit and comfort. If not, I'll send them back
@Glory: I know, that's my only worry. I am able to get my Frye Carsons on so I hope that is a good sign.

Ceit you lovely enabler!!! which ones are you after? I bought and returned the brown combat boots from softmoc last year because I just couldnt get brown working in my wardrobe. Kind of regretful...but now looking for new ones. Do you love your engineers?

Love these! But being that I own some grey Frye's myself, I may be a bit biased
Hope your range of motion comes along quickly. I still have a bit less in my sprained ankle these years later. I wonder if I'd have pushed more at the end of healing if I could have gained that little extra bit . . .

I got the shortie version of this style in the Tan Burnished color last year and I really like them - but this color looks fantastic for you. I ordered both sizes and ended up keeping the 1/2 size up to accommodate thick socks.

I love any and all shades of grey and silver so I am loving these. Do you have lighter wash jeans you can wear with these? Wait -- maybe you NEED a pair of cute grey skinnies to go with these! It might make a good alternative to blue, blue and more blue. I think they'd look great with shorts or skirts or dresses as well, being they would look cool against your skin.

Do you have an high instep or arch? Even after stretching I could never get Veronica's on my feet.

@Mo: Thanks. I love your grey Fryes too. Hoping the ROM continues to improve. It’s gotten a lot better already. I still have several pairs of boots that I can’t get on yet--keeping my fingers crossed.

@Tex: I keep going back on the short vs. long but now I kind of want something that will hide the ugly leg for awhile!

@Denise: I wore out my grey skinnies last year and gave away a lot of my colored jeans. I’m hoping these will work with olive and blue denim. What I’m really hoping is that I can tuck BF jeans into these.

@Anna: I’ve never had a problem getting my feet into boots until this injury. I hope they pull on just like my Frye Carsons. Fingers crossed I think my feet are pretty average--average size, width and arch.
