K/R: Frye Vera Short Engineer Boot?

My boots are here! Please excuse the bikini top and beach hair and quick outfits cobbled from what I could grab fastest - we'd just been upright paddle boarding, but these boots would wait for no showers/grooming/proper styling. o_0

I'm already kind of in love with these, but I thought I'd run them past you guys. How are they with the BF jeans? I was hoping to use these to make the BFs winter ready. Also, the distressing is pretty streaky on one boot... I don't really think I car, but I could just use some shoe polish on everything and make 'em regular black if it begins to bug me later.

If anyone else is considering these, I usually have to size down 1/2 to a whole size in Frye, but I'm SO glad I also ordered my regular 8.5 in these, as they are TTS for me. VERY comfy, perfect heel height, enough room for foot swelling on vacation or on a plane, yet not falling off. Shaft slim enough that I'm not standing in big black buckets.

They look awesome to me. I'm adjusting to the tucked in BF look, but this seems right - not excessively tight but not slopping around either. Sweet score for you! These will look even better as you wear them out and about.

I like the slightly higher heel on the Vera compared to the normal Frye 12R engineer!

Nice! I instantly thought of Ceit in hers too. And Angie mentioned something in passing about loving jeans with ironed creases tucked into boots lately! What do you think of that? So anyway, I love these a lot if the comfort is there for you.

BTW, I LOVE paddle boarding! We tried it in Hawaii and I was hooked. I wonder if I could buy a little boogie board and go around in circles in my pool? So much fun, but I'd probably get dizzy. : /

Claire, I missed that about the creases in jeans - and here I thought Angie was dead set against creases. I could definitely see ironing some in for a strict, military vibe. I'm so laughing at the image of you paddling about on a boogie board... hehe!

Those are great for you, Rae! I think they work for the BF because the slouchiness is sort of equal all round, you know? It's a very forgiving relationship. And they are SO your style. It was worth spending the money on these.

I always look at these and wonder how to style them - I have a mental block against mid-calf boots. I have a pair of suede green ones that stymied me all last winter. Anyway...great styling and I'm going to try to remember this post when it gets cooler and I pull those green boots out.

Nadya, these weren't from the swap meet - though I have to share with the forum a lace up pair I got for $20 (!), I hardly ever see Frye's at the swap meet. Just a testament to the fact that they last forever and retain their resale value as well. These were actually a rare investment piece for me. I am realllly trying to take care of my feet this year.

Love them with the skinny jeans/jeggings and red coat as well as the dress. I like the way they look with the bf's also, but maybe with a longer, fuller topper. Like a stadium or fuller moto jacket or longer blazer, something more manly than the cropped suede scuba jacket. The top underneath could be very fitted however, to show off your waist. The reason I think you can pull of very masculine outfits is your long, long hair and your hourglass figure. And let's add your beautiful smile and flawless skin to that.

What a great investment, Rae. I bought my first pair of Frye boots last year and love them deeply. My Frye oxfords, alas, aren't quite as comfortable, but they're fine for work and casual outtings. Looking forward to seeing your $20 laceup score!
