Frye Carson shortie owners--does it really run big?

I am in the market for a pair of Frye Carson shorties and am trying to decide between my normal size and a half size smaller. Many of the Zappos reviews say the boot runs a half size big...but often this type of advice steers me wrong. I know I could just order both and return the one that doesn't fit..but I'm curious.

What's your experence? Does it run big?

(I had to amend this post.....I was originally saying that it ran small!)

I would say that mine run true to size or maybe even a teeny bit big. I usually wear an 8 in boots and a 7.5 in sandals or pumps. My carson shorties are a 7.5 and I have room for socks and arch support insoles. They are correct in length and there is even plenty of room in the toe box for my bunion. They gape a bit up top but I am assured that is normal for cowboy style boots. I do have extremely low insteps and arches though, so if you have high instep/arches you might need to size up... I suspect w/ fryes that the instep is often the problem in terms of sizing because they do not have zippers or laces.

My feet are between 5.5/6 depending on the style. I bought a 6 in the carson shorties. They are very cute shoes but have extremely slippery bottoms. Be prepared to glue on some non-slips.

YES!! I am a size 8...8.5 in sandals. I haven't worn a 7 or 7.5 since before I had my kids (13 years ago! :)) so I didn't believe it either.

I ordered the 7.5 and 8. The 7.5 is big on me but comfortable. The 8 is HUGE for an 8. I think I could have even worn a seven. I would just go down a half size.

Hmmm.....I'm a size 7 and mine are TSS. (I do wear socks on them, well "sockettes" or whatever those anklet things are called)

I'm a solid 8.5 and got some Carsons, the regular height, in 8. They were roomy enough in 8.5 that I would have had to add some definite socks. I wish the 8 were a bit wider for my slightly wide foot though.

Well....I went ahead and ordered size 8 (half size smaller than my normal 8.5) and I'm sure glad I did! They are huge! I am going to prance around in them tomorrow with some thicker socks, but I'm almost wondering if I should go for a 7.5. I have somewhat narrow feet, and my heel is really slipping in these.

Yikes - I forgot to mention that I totally fell down the basement stairs carrying a laundry basket in those boots when I first got them, and landed on my back. BE CAREFUL! It really hurt.
