Frye boots- help please!

Hi everyone,

6pm has a sale again and I'm considering these Sarah OTK boots in black
http://www.6pm.com/product/7651571/color/3008. Has anyone tried them on?

and the Rory's in either sand or tan. http://www.6pm.com/product/7542838/color/60445

I'm not sure about the light coloured boots since I have dark hair but they were so lovely on Kari recently that I am very tempted!

I'm a bit worried also about the recent discussion about 6pm.com selling seconds of Fryes- by the time I send them to my freight forwarding company and they reach me in Australia the return period is up so I'm stuck with them. Would someone mind receiving them for me, checking that the quality is ok and sending them on?

I didn't get to read them but the star rating is promising.

I don't see the Rory in tan, but I do see the sand and they ARE lovely

I'd be happy to forward, but I don't think I'm brave enough to evaluate them for someone else :-\ Hopefully someone is. . .

I was thinking about Angie's experience vs. the few times I have ordered from 6pm.com. Everything I've gotten has been pristine, but in that they are zappos clearing house, there could be returns in there for whatever reason -- you know when a product has a personality quirk you don't like, so you sent it back. . .

(I just had to order a pair of those Fyre Billy stud boots in black. . .!!)

The Sarahs look really tall. They would be too tall for me (I am 5'2). Unless you planned to wear them cuffed all the time, I'd pass.

I don't know if it's possible to tell if they're seconds if you don't already have a version to compare them to or can't try them on. FWIW, I have never had that problem with 6pm. I think Angie just got a lemon or perhaps the style has changed. My Cindy boots were perfect.

I'd wear the Sarah's as OTK boots- my Apepazzas are 19.5 inches and only JUST hit the top of my knee.

I'm guessing that the 17.5 inch shaft on the Sarah's is cuffed?

Yeah, they look thigh high to me uncuffed. At least 21". I can wear 21" boots, but it is my absolute limit and I have long legs. Anything longer is overwhelming.

I think we are similar in height Maya- I'm 5'3 with a 30.5 inch inseam- petite pants are too short

I'm very happy with the quality of my Fryes from 6pm! I have the sand Rorys (exact same as Kari's) and they are very, very nice. Maybe my standards aren't as high as Angie's, but I don't have much tolerance for obviously cheap or stiff leather. Really - I'm very happy with my Rorys.

As for the color - I also have very dark hair, and I find as long as I have something in a similar tone somewhere else in my outfit (even just a tiny bit of camisole, or as one of the colors in a scarf), it works for me!

(However, having said all of that - I would be nervous to order shoes that I knew I couldn't return, just from a size standpoint!)

Regarding the sand/tan color -- I would go for it! I have a pair of buttermilk Carsons that I love, and I have dark hair.

Regarding quality -- I haven't had any issues with 6pm merchandise. I wonder if Angie received a dud.

And I just ordered a pair of red Rorys due to your post of the sale!

Megan & others, I also wonder if it may simply be an issue with the "sand" color not being so soft in general. See this review of the Frye Cindy boots in the same "sand" color. Perhaps it's not a case of 6PM selling "seconds" so much as a particular color of leather being a bit stiffer & not as soft.

The leather is like butter! The black is softer than the camel color! They felt like different boots. The black ones slouch better than the camel ones."

That being said, the Rorys are way softer than ANY boot I have ever laid my hands on, and I was massively impressed.

Megan, if you decide to do it, I'd be happy to take a look at them and let you know if the quality is the same as the pair I received.

Megan, thanks for posting this! I just received my Rorys in "sand" from Zappos and LOVED the fit and style. But I reluctantly concluded they are too similar in color to my Jones New York boots to justify keeping them at the price I paid, even on sale ($229). But at the price 6PM is selling them for, I went ahead and ordered a pair in red! I love to wear red shoes in general and think I will get a ton of wear out of some lovely dark red boots.

This is *my* question (sorry I don't mean to TJ), but maybe Megan wondered too: did everyone order their Rory's in their regular size or size down 1/2 size like I usually do in Frye's (i.e. I'm a solid 8.5, but every pair of Frye's except Cindy's I needed an 8)

MNSara, I am perpetually in between two sizes, and actually my left foot is bigger than my right. I usually size up, but with the Rorys I sized down and was glad I did, because even while sizing down I still had some give in the foot.

My Frye Veronica's are a size 5.5 and 69% of reviews on Zappos said that the boots run half a size small. I'm a 6 in most shoes but usually end up in 5.5 in boots.

I just received the scrunch boots last night and they are beautiful but the scrunch is not for me so I'm going to return them. I got the dark antique brown color which is perfect. The sand is probably beautiful too. Do you have any stores you can try them on to see the color and all?

I just ordered the Frye Rory's in sand from Zappos and then reordered the same size and style from 6pm when I saw them go on sale there. When they arrive I hope to do a side by side comparison.

If the quality is similar, I'll keep the ones from 6pm since they were significantly less expensive!
