Front door color advice - new color at bottom

My house is being painted at the moment - the upper part is white with dark brown trim. Currently my door is an rustic red color and will have to be painted as well.
I am completely stumped on what color paint it. I have attached a few photos of what it currently looks like.
I was thinking of a deep taupe or possibly a stronger red.
All thoughts and advice gratefully accepted.

That's a really beautiful house!

I would either paint the door in the colour of warm wood, to create the rustic wood and brick look and feel. Or I'd go with a pristine white juxtaposed with the brick. That would make the door really stand out and shine.

Whatever you do decide, I'd love to see the final pictures

thanks ladies. I think you are right. I found an online tool where you can load your item and play with several colours. The red is very inviting. Now to find the perfect shade.

I have a red front door and tried about 8 different test pots. Eventually got one I liked. Getting the red/ brown/ pink balance was the key. I agree red would look terrific.

Another vote for red! Ours is red (can't take credit for the color though) and every time I'm working in the yard I receive compliments on the door from neighbors.

Thanks for all of the support. I have been to the paint store on the way to pick up the kids from camp. Have a couple of great contenders. Red it is. Will post pics as soon as it is complete.

I love the red I think that if you wanted to change it up you could go with a brighter red but it it still needs to be rich and not have too much orange in it.

I love the red. We have a red door on a White House with black shutters. ( New England, you know,) it's supposed to be good feng shui, if you are into that.

You have a lovely home.
My first thought, before reading the other comments, was to go for a stronger, deeper red (blue-toned) to complement the beautitful grey brickwork.

Your home is beautiful. I read that when choosing an entry door color, you should go one darker than your original pick because the color will look lighter in daylight. I like the red with the brick and brown too and think a deeper shade would be fab. The dark red with a purple undertone could work well too as would navy.

Mine is purple and I love it. I think purple would go nicely with your brick, your house is lovely!

Hi ladies. I'm back with the end result. I had to try several shades and feel this one may still be not quite rights. My daughters love it and my son thinks it is "pink". He wanted the beige door.
First picture is the old colour
Second is the new.
Let me know if I should change the hue a bit. It may be a bit too rasberry. I have found red to be super tricky.

It does have a raspberry undertone. I personally don't mind that but if you aren't in love with it, try a slightly darker red in a color that is a bit warmer.

It's funny. In some light it looks really great but in others more challenging.

It was a diy so I can repaint it. Just a matter of getting the right hue, prepping and re-doing. Not horrible.

I like it but I liked the old one too so I think you make good choices and it's just about what pleases you the most.
It's definitely a blue-er shade of red than the old one but it's very pretty and I wouldn't have thought "pink", not that there's anything wrong with pink..I think if you go darker you'll be headed towards purple, or aubergine. Which would be fine too!
I'd leave it for a week and see how you feel.

We selected a burgundy red for my IL's house, but have not seen the end result yet. What shade of red did you paint your door?

Very sage advice to wait and see for about one week. That is also what DH recommended.
Hi Lara:
I had selected Caliente from Benjamin Moore but found it too orange when I tried the sample pot.
I drove around and saw a door that I really loved and asked the home owner what the colour was. I was so surprised to find that it was the second option that I had and ended up using. The colour is Bolero from Behr. It was the paint with primer included. I bought it in a satin but if I was too choose again I would use flat (unless the door is very new).
