French film - Jalouse/Jealous - has anyone seen it?

Hello forum friends

I saw a wonderful film last week at a French Film Festival (we have several touring festivals each year - some with live theatre and others with International Films).

I went to see Jealous with some friends and it really hit home to me.. it is about a woman in "transit" (menopause or pre menopause) and her mood swings and anger. I feel like I am quicker to anger/less tolerant than in the past... I had not associated this with my age but thought it was related to some business and family frustrations.

Has anyone else seen the film (I highly recommend it) or have any comments they would like to share about mood swings pre menopause?

Hi Sal-
I host a movie night for gfs - this week we will be viewing “ Phantom Thread”
I have not seeing your movie but will ask ladies on Wednesday if we can add it to the list. Do you have details such as- Is it done in French with a English subtitles? Is it at rental, PPV or Netflix/ Amazon status?
I am sure some of my friends’ comments will include- “ movie hell- we are living it” lol.
Menopause is not for sissies or faint hearted.

I do love french films but these days I try to keep my movies on the "light" side - comedy, coming of age, mystery, action is okay too - more of a needed escape for me.

I haven't noticed much in the way of mood swings or anger. I did have a period in pre-meno of more anxiety. Kava Kava and/or valerian seemed to help with that. And not drinking much caffeine. Oh, and magnesium too. I do take an awful lot of supplements (and really have for a long time) - so I'm not sure I'm exactly letting nature take it's course.

Like Texstyle, I'm doing 'light'. (The nature of my work was dark and I'm escapist outside of work hours to cope.) However, the movie sounds intriguing (intellectual) so will go on my list. I'm planning a chic flick movie binge when DH goes on his annual golf week with his buds. I want to see 'Meditation Park' after hearing an interview on CBC radio with Cheng Pei-pei and Sandra Oh.

Vigourous exercise kept me out of (most!) trouble when teenage hormones raged, and the same prescription seems to be working for peri-menopause/menopause. If I back off exercise, I start to get a little hot and flashy! I do have chronic sleep issues no matter what I do. I've just officially entered menopause 4 months ago, but was in perimenopause for the past 3-4 years. I felt more crazy, including angry during perimenopause, but I wonder how much of that had to do with lack of sleep?

Thanks Carla and Tex Style and efbgen- the film is actually a comedy bu it does have subtitles. It is not a heavy film. It is fun but it was this issue that made me think about myself. I saw it at the cinema but it may be available streaming or similar elsewhere.

I must start my magnesium again - I do feel more anxious than I used to and have had a few anger flashes disproportionate to the event. I gym and walk and am moderately fit but am looking to change my routine at the moment as it is time for something different.

Thanks for the info about the movie. French won't be a problem!

Sal, I'm no therapist, however FWIW it is the hard cardio that mellows me out. Weight training, yoga, etc are all important and good - but it is the kick ass cycle fit classes or speed work on the track that works best. It doesn't have to be long, but it has to be intense and sweaty.
