Gee, JS, I'm not too sure how to answer that. I haven't tried very many boots on to compare it to, but I have wide feet and they do touch the sides....they narrow down by the toes, so I *think* it would be comfy with a smaller/narrow to medium foot. But a lot depends on if you plan to wear an insole, especially the gel pad ones can take up a lot of room. And the thickness of your socks makes a difference in these too. I usually wear 8.5 to 9 wide, and these are medium width. They didn't feel oversized at all, to me. Maybe a touch small, but again, I don't have any real base of comparison. You could read some of the reviews, that might have more info, sorry. Glory, I know how that feels, ugh
