I got a call from my mom today telling me that she was bringing me home two garbage bags full of "business-type" clothing from one of her co-workers. See, my mom is a nurse, and all they wear are scrubs. Well, her friend used to be a medical sales represenative, so always had to wear really nice business-type clothes. Since she no longer does that work, she has no need for the clothes, and asked my mom if I would like them seeing as we are the same size.

When she brought them home we couldn't believe what she gave us! I ended up getting five suits with interchangeable jackets, skirts and pants, an Audrey Hepburn style dress, and other business-type odds and ends.

As I looked at the tags, I couldn't believe some of these brand names she was just giving me. Ann Talor, The Loft, Breakin' Loose, Windsor, Bananna Republic. I just browsed the web for the prices and they are all at $50.00 or above even with the pieces being a year or so old.

I ended up getting a whole, brand-new business/business casual wardrobe for free! All of these pieces are easy to dress for business, dress down, or dress for a night out.

I don't know what to do to thank her, but I am going to do something to show my appreciation for her.

Also, my mom wanted to look for used furniture at the SA (she likes to strip it, re-do it, and fancy it up), so I went along and we got my sister a great black pencil skirt for work, and I got a black button down from Bananna Republic, a white button down from Bananna Republic, and a cranberry-red tank top for SO all with the tags attached for $10.00 total.

So, how did I do? LOL

I hope this wardrobe will work out for me. I am a college student, but I like to get dressed when I go to classes, not wear jeans and a sweatshirt.

Any thoughts on that?

p.s. Also, I love to wear chunky statement jewelry. Will it work with what you see in my wardrobe, so far (damn shopping bug - when will it leave me - LOL)?

WOW you scored - way to go!! Yes, you can do the jewelry with it! Post some pics/outfits with the accessories & we can weigh in if you'd like. CONGRATS - that is soooo cool!

When I cleaned out stuff for my garage sale I finally went through & purged from my old "accessory archive" and made up a bag of goodies for my niece. She just recently graduated from college as a teacher & is on her own for the 1st time. I'm excited for her to have some fun things! Kari's post from her Aunt gave me the idea. Just as your post has done here. I can still remember the 1st time I got bags & bags of jeans, etc. as a teen. We didn't have any $$$ growing up & my older brother's girlfriend cleaned out her closet. Ohhh the feeling that gives someone to get a haul like that! It feels good to be on the opposite end of it & know you're helping someone out! Anyway, I'm rambling now!

You scored! She passed on some good stuff that you will be able to work with.
I would try it all on and make sure the fit is good (especially the suits and skirts) and make a small investment in tailoring if needed.

I'm not a huge fan of the bright blue tops or long floral dresses but you should try them on and see how they look - and really if you don't like anything she gave you in general, it is easy to pass on to charity/friend.

And now, with a few good bottoms and jackets to work with, you can spend your $$$ on fun items like fun tops, jewelry, accessories and shoes.

Wow, Kathleen, these look like GREAT items. I see you wore the black pinstripe skirt today - good for you! I especially like the floral top and the gray skirt. Can't wait to see more of them on you.

You did GREAT. Have fun mixing it in to your current wardrobe! I'll bet you only need a piece here and here -- a cute top, a short-sleeved sweater -- and you'll be able to get a lot of use out of all of it!
