Franco Sarto Granite Booties

So, I got these Franco Sarto booties in Truffle.

They fit wonderfully, and will be an excitingly new and different-for-me special occasion shoe. (The heel is high enough for me that these won't be shoes I walk long distances in, limiting them to times when I'm getting a ride somewhere.)

Would I be better off exchanging these for a pair in black? Having trouble deciding what would be more practical and useful, as well as attractive.

I guess that depends on what you normally wear for special occasions. Do you mean dress-up, or just days when you don't have to do a lot of walking? Which color would best work with your outfits for those occasions?

The truffle is a great color, but I will throw out that the wine color (a very dark burgundy) would be great at bookending your hair:-) Black also works for that, but the wine is nicely different.

A few people have mentioned the wine colour; I think Angie noted it as her favourite colour in these boots in her "top picks" list. How red is the red? IN other words, is it still a neutral or is it a red boot?Your reply

I think the black or wine would be great for book ending. I have a similar truffle colored tall boot and I have black hair--they are great because my face/skin color kind of works as a bookend. I think it really depends on whether you want contrast or not. I don't like black head to toe that much anymore. I find different color footwear kind of lightens things up and makes outfits more interesting. Probably not helping, am I?

I haven't seen the wine color in person, but online it looks like a deep purple-ish brown. I don't see red at all on the screen. I have fairly dark brown hair, and I think they'd bookend very well for me.

The "wine" color is gorgeous. I just posted a question on what kinds of socks to wear with these booties as I just ordered them. Socks depend on what you are wearing, of course. So, with skinny jeans, what sock would you wear? if skirts, some kind of legging?

with the color "wine," would you still wear black leggings with skirts?

nude knee-highs with jeans or knee socks?

I ordered both the grey color and the wine color in these and have been debating which to keep. The wine is a dark burgundy, not at all a flashy red. After reading this, I think I'll keep the wine. I see Angie's point, the wine is a little different and a gorgeous color. It's still somewhat neutral so would go with so many colors. I do have the same concern as CJ about the socks because these have such a low boot shaft.

Ditto what Sarah said. The red or wine color is gorgeous. Angie was spot on with her color pick. It is a darker, more subtle color and definitely not glaring. I tried it on in store and am kicking myself for not picking them. Sold out in my size now.

I have them in black and I'm struggling to style them with the low boot shaft.

I ordered these in wine and am actually considering returning because of the low shaft. The socks I usually wear with booties, which are low-cut enough that they stop just over the ankle bone, stick out with these. But I'd be wearing them mostly with skirts and dresses, so this wouldn't be as big a deal if you want them mostly with pants that would cover the shaft. The low shaft would also make them hard to tuck skinnies into, if that's something you'd want to do with these.

The wine is a really pretty deep color that would work as a neutral, and is a great shade for brunettes. I have a lot of black shoes and wanted something that would be more of a pop of color, so I was actually hoping it would be less dark and neutral than it is!

Looks like wine isn't available in my size/width at our local stores. I suppose I could order that colour online and return these truffle booties.

So very undecided.

And yes, I've also been thinking and wondering about what sort of socks I would or could wear with boots like this.

I got dark red ankle boots last year and I love them. I love all kinds of deep mysterious burgundy and Cordovan footwear. These look to be that kind of rich, "nearly neutral" color.
It does depend on what you'll be wearing. I wear lots of black, gray, black and gray, etc, pants with gray, black, burgundy or "marsala" color tops, and so the red is great and a great change from black footwear, but still very bookendish. Also work with navy. If you wear a lot of true blues you might want gray or black.

Quick update: Went into Nordstrom today and exchanged these for a 6.5 wide. They fit much better. Sadly, the wine colour wasn't available anymore (from any of the stores), so I stayed with Truffle.

I think I'll still love these boots!

I think you'll love them, especially with your hair. And if you like the fit now, you'll soon love it. A HEWI for me for sure because of the low shaft and that they're fitted enough that they don't go "clomp" all the time. Best of all? They've gone into rotation without any excruciating break-in period.
