For the better part of my life, I've worn no fragrance at all. In general, I find many people apply it too heavily, and so I thought any scent was overwhelming - I thought that was how they were supposed to be, and I wanted no part of it.

As I've gotten older, I've realized that scent, like anything else, can be worn for oneself, and so it can be as discreet as one likes. Indeed, no one else needs to be able to smell it at all if it makes a person happy. And so I'd like to find a scent that I can wear regularly and enjoy.

The problem is that I have no idea what I like. When I go to a department store, it is easy to get overwhelmed and feel like my nose isn't even working properly after sniffing just three or four. I've ordered some tiny sample bottles, and none of them have worked out.

So I know that fragrances react differently on each person, depending on their chemistry, but I wanted to ask if any of you wear fragrance and what is your favorite? Why do you like it? What do you seek out in a fragrance? Do you like to smell clean? Flowery? Romantic? Do you like unusual notes like greens or leather? Do you prefer traditionally women's scents? Unisex? Men's? I'm just looking for a place to jump off from in terms of exploring what's right for me because I feel kind of lost right now.
