I think the first look is dressy because of the necklace-- it just seems to add more glitz. This is a look I would wear to church or any afternoon event like a baby shower, piano recital, etc. The second look seems more dressed down because of the nude shoes and more simple necklace. I *might* wear this on a day that I had some smarter errands to run (dr. appts, teacher conferences... etc) And I could even throw my denim jacket on to make it more casual and add a layer of warmth.
But, what I really would love is to feel that I can wear this on a nice summer day that I have not much else to do but go to the grocery store, do some light housework, run to the bank... those types of things. But I can't help shake the feeling that since it is black it says "smart casual" I guess part of my problem is that I am still hesitate a bit to wear something mildly dressy when I don't have anything to justify it with. I am getting better about that though.....
anyhow, so yes, more ideas on how to make this dress say "I just threw this on because it's a lovely summer day and I'm really not trying to be dressed up ;-)"
