I have what may be a silly question. What is the difference between a formula and rubric (in YLF terms)?

Mm. I would say a formula is a specific combo of types of items. I'd say a rubric is a list of "key words" or qualities that you look for in every outfit.

To me, a formula is more about what pieces go together. Like, tunic over skinnies with flats and a scarf. Whereas a rubric is the facets of your style - tough, or ladylike, or arty, or textured, or bold colors, etc.

Also, there is the style statement. A kind of two word style motto. I am going by "playful traditional" these days.

On a related note, this has got me thinking. I feel a need to revisit my rubric:

1. No-fuss
2. Thermal
3. Off-Center
4. Hip
5. Frilly Girl

Need to do something about 4 & 5. They're too young. Maybe "of-the-moment" and "feminine."

I was ruminating just today as I was pulling apart last month's PeopleStyleWatch to save just the outfits I liked. I found myself again and again going for luxe textures. Leather, silk, cashmere. Polished metal hardware on shoes and bags. But I still like a little bad ass edge, not too ladylike. I'm starting to think Tough Luxe (also love the punny sound to it!) is a good descriptor for my aspiration of where I'd like to go.

Tough Luxe. I can see that (love the punny-ness too ;>). The 'tough' gets at what I think of as your Crocodile Dundee side, Mo. Your rugged side. (Dinosaur climber!)
