Hi Friends! Since I've been posting borderline costume everyday wear lately, I thought I'd give you the fun of seeing me in *true* costume. Admittedly, if I could get away with it I would certainly wear something like this every day of my life. It feels *so* fun, joyful, feminine, formidable, you name it!

I dance a style of bellydance called American Tribal Style, which is a group improvisational form of the dance, developed here in the U.S. There are many videos online if you want to see what it looks like. I would recommend looking up Fat Chance Bellydance for the best example, as their troupe leader is the founder of this style of dance.

I don't get this dressed up for every class, but it is good to practice in something similar to what you would wear for performances, so I tend to do something similar but without the flower in my hair, extra make-up, or jingle bracelets. For an actual performance, there would be loads more bling, make-up, hair accessories, a coin bra (or similar), tassle belt, etc.
