For those of us who are experiencing record high fall temps...

This morning, I stood inside the closet, looked at all the fall clothes waiting for me, sighed, and dug out one of my summer staple outfits. The forecast for today? Freakin' hot. Now... I can't complain, my outfit was a happiness-10 for me - but I was wearing white shorts and carrying a white bag. I am just not feeling the 'Fall'. Which is good, because I love summer and I always mourn the passing of it. So I am reminding myself to be glad I'm getting an extension of my favorite time of year.

But I sure would love to wear some of my fall stuff! There is a brand new leather Danier jacket languishing in the closet even as I type this. And the stores are all featuring leather trim clothes and beautiful fleecy things.

For those of you who live in similarly hot conditions, how are you coping in terms of your current outfits?

I straight up left behind my brand new Spiegel leather jacket when I packed for FL I don't expect fall weather for another month at the very least, more likely 3. I'm taking the opportunity to winnow my summer stuff and decide what I really love wearing and what I can do without once the season is finally over. (purged 2 tanks and 2 skirts already)

Like Mo, I am also in Florida and it is hellishly hot. Not good for a girl with a coat fetish. I've been wearing summer garments and will online to do so until it cools down a bit. I've bought a few tops in fall colours to wear under suit jackets but that's as far as I can go.

Our fall never starts until October so I know not to get too excited in September even though all the stores and catalogs are showing fall stuff. I start to think about what I might want and plan some new outfits. I usually try to fit in one last wearing of all my favorite summer outfits before it gets too cool for them.

Yesterday, I bought my 3rd Nic & Zoe tank top in a fall color. That's how I'm coping! I don't normally wear tanks, but maybe it's because my old tanks are from Target and don't really fit. I'd never considered their tanks @ $44, but my first one was marked down 40% and the second one was marked down 50%. With a little spandex mixed into the cotton, they fit and flatter me because they aren't too low and the straps are pretty thick. The third was in a b&m Nordstrom 'cuz the color wasn't available online in Petites.

It's fall weather here, which means heat wave galore. And all my NAS purchases are stuck away in the closet, argh. But, I'm trying to enjoy my linen pants, drapey t-shirts, and sandals -- I'm certainly wearing the heck out of them. And weekend trips to the beach make everything better, even the lack of true, crisp fall weather!

I'm seasonally confused right now. We never really got hot this summer and the temperature is just hanging out in the 90s. I'm just reminding myself that it will get cool later and that I'll miss them once it gets cool.

I'm just unhappy about it and pouting I suppose. I'm over bare legs and dresses (the shaving, the sweating). I haven't fixed my pedicure and hopefully packed away the sandals and peep toes, but it's in the 90's this week!! I want to wear tights and boots and coats!! I've returned all the fall/winter items I've bought because they were scratchy (Only Mine cashmere dot sweater and Trouve Military coat) which I wonder if they would not be scratchy when it's seasonally appropriate to wear?

Ha! I put away my sandals a few days ago but dug them out again yesterday. I'm wearing summer clothes in as fall-like colours I can muster. It's often like this where I live during September. We'll have a hellish hot day or two and then colder temps or a storm. So I'm sort of accustomed to it. Fall begins officially on September 20 or 21, after all. So until then, anything goes.

And given that winter goes on, like, FOREVER where I live, my Danier jackets will still get a load of wear!

I am with you. 95 today with a heat index over 100. I spent the day in my maxi dress, figuring at least I'd get one more wear out of it before the season ends.

I'm glad that temps are going to break before the weekend. My jackets are calling me.

I'm so used to considering September still summer I don't even think about it. I begin to think about semi Fall clothes...long sleeved T shirts, etc...in October. Sweaters and jackets are out of the question until November. For me it's just business as usual. Sad, because I like cooler weather fashion much better, but for that I'd have to move.

Team September is Still Summer here. I'm in So Cal and September is generally our hottest month, and this year has been no exception. The flip side is we have very cool weather (cool for us, anyway) through most of June. Se we're just behind the curve all year long! LOL

Summer was/is brutal and it's only just now 'cooled off' to 80-something for a few days. Not sure how long that will last either. Could ratchet right back up to high nineties for all I know.

Fall doesn't really start until mid-to-late October around these parts. Not a fan of five months of summer and five months of winter, interspersed with a 'few weeks' of fall or spring.

I can't wait to wear socks and long pants again! Not looking forward to knee-high snow again though.

In terms of coping - I went with a midnight blue button down shirt, paired with pale blue BF jeans and loafers today. My only 'nod' to fall is that I wore dark blue instead of the typical summer-y colours. First time in a long time it was ok to wear BF jeans instead of lightweight shorts. Closed shoes too. That's a bit of a switch. Still sans socks, and still rolled up lightweight, light blue BF jeans - but the shoes were closed and I wore a long-sleeved button-down shirt (albeit with the sleeves rolled up).

Ay! I'm with you. I'm giving my white denim a real workout, along with lightweight shirts that don't read too summery. Like you I'm eyeing my leather and scarves with longing.

It's frustrating for sure, but I keep telling myself that the heat will end soon. It is September after all, not July. If this were the middle of summer I'd be a lot grumpier knowing we had weeks of heat ahead.

Temps have been in the high 90s here. I did a pretend closet Fall switch-out where I put away a couple of dresses in very summery prints and also put away a coral silk shirt and a citron cardi. Then I got the cardi back out again two days later. I may not wear white boyfriends again. And I'm trying to think of cute outfits with black and navy skirts.

That's my strategy--some very tiny nods to the new season so I won't feel stuck in summer! Ha!

The same -- recycling old summer staples. The lure of wearing something new does have that effect of wanting one season to hurry up and end. Oddly this year I'm not itching so much to wear something new as I am to try out new silhouettes.

Today I wore unlined wool trousers rolled up and my new lightweight Zella wrap (technically activewear). So it was lightweight but in darker neutrals and long sleeves. At least the colors were Fall-like!

But really, the heat is driving me nuts, too. I wants me my leather!!

Over 90 here as well. 90 and over is skirt and sandal only weather for me fall or not. I grabbed my cotton skirt with white, taupe and nutmeg flowers and paired it with a light weight denim shirt. I've been wearing this skirt all summer but it does have fall colors at least.

Yes, September and October are hard for me style wise because I want to break out my fall clothes and layers, but it's so hot!

I do try to reserve my dark neutral summer wear and sandals for these last two frustrating months. I also choose fall colors for my pedicures.

I am staying away from my super summer-y clothing, like shorts and tropical-patterned skirts, but I am wearing sundresses in colors I think are more seasonally appropriate, like dark purple or navy.

Fall is my favorite season, I wish it would hurry up and get here!

It's hot as Hades outside but very cold in my office, so I have to dress in layers. I'm trying to ease into my fall colors, though. It's my favorite time of year, and I hope the weather will cool off soon.

Not coping well... so ready to bust out my new purchases! I have been adding ponte 3/4 sleeve jackets since I am in air conditioning and going for closed toed flats intstead of sandals... Also the temps in the evenings are in the 60's so can play around a little there as well....

I'm in NC, and my main difference between the seasons is whether I wear tall boots and my clour choices, typically. I happily wear jeans and sweaters year round; it's my shoe choice that changes with the seasons (I am one of those people that must shave all the time, because I cannot deal with scritchy legs in pants or tights).

I dread fall, though, because it means winter is coming (WINTER IS COMING), and all that it entails, which is anathema to me. I loathe being cold and short, dark days. I love summer and roasting hot temperatures with high humidity, and find myself distraught that we've not had very much of that at all this summer yet. I'm rather relishing these lovely 90+ days. LOL!
