For the plus size girls: I found premium denim today!

Plus size premium denim pretty much does not exist. I know this question came up on the blog on the topic of jeans for curvy bodies so I wanted to share my success!

Nordstrom used to exclusively carry Paige Premium Denim in plus sizes but they discontinued the line. I've never been able to find it anywhere... until today!

I happened to be near a Filene's Basement today so I decided to browse and I'm glad I did! I found a whole rack of plus size Paige Premium Denim! I was SOOO excited. I grabbed a couple styles to try on and fell in love. Seriously, premium denim feels and looks so much nicer than regular denim... it's amazing.

The jeans definitely run super small as I had to size up two sizes (I wonder if this is why they didn't do well at Nordstrom?) Nonetheless, I found a great pair and I'm thrilled. They were still quite expensive but I think it's worth it because I basically live in jeans.

So now I have Paige Premium, David Kahn (from Nordstrom Rack), and Jag jeans (from Nordstrom). My Gap jeans just don't fit or look the same to me anymore. I'm a convert!

QUITE happy.

As a side note, Filene's Basement also had plus size NYDJ and Seven jeans! They didn't have any David Kahns, but last time I was at the Rack they had a few pairs.

I am just beyond jealous over here!!! Do we have any of those stores/brands in Canada? Negative!! So happy that you're on such a denim roll, though. I really must rectify my jeans situation. The only ones I truly love are my Lauren by Ralph Lauren straight legs (video outfit).

DK's are sooo much cheaper at the Rack though! Michelle, if you want, next time I see a pair I can buy them for you and ship them to you and you'll just reimburse me? Just a thought. I think I paid $60 for mine at Nordstrom Rack.

I'm going to have to remember to check The Rack when I am there again- in November, since I am currently on a shopping ban. I think that premium denim is one of the lats things that I still need a plus size for.

They look AMAZING on you! I so wish we had a rack here. I miss having one nearby (especially the shoes!). We have an Off 5th at the local outlet mall but it's quite small and they never seem to have my size. I saw some great Seven Ginger's there awhile back - in one size larger and one sizer smaller than I needed!

I use also Ralph Lauren Jeans (slim fit) size 6, Love them! Not too lower on the waist, but not too high, I bought in dark denin and black denin!

Thanks! I'm really happy with them. I just wish I was ONE measly inch taller and then I wouldn't have to get them hemmed (or I should start wearing heels, ha). But I really like how they fit... very similar to the David Kahns. I was thinking about it last night, while I LOVE my Jag jeans and they are super comfortable, they are definitely not as "premium" as the David Kahns. They start to bag, especially in the knees, as the day wears on. Nonetheless, they're super comfy and look great so they're not going anywhere! I'm pretty sure I'm going to get rid of a lot of my Gap jeans because they're all too short and just not as lovely (all my Gap jeans are from before they redesigned their denim). I'll try to sell them to a buy/sell shop and maybe get some cash.

Mariann- make sure you wash them a couple of times before having them hemmed. Maybe they will shrink up?

The Rack has been especially brilliant over the last few months. I take ALL my clients there at this point. It’s worth the less than stellar shopping experience.

Marianna, that's the greatest offer ever and you better believe I'm taking you up on it!! Question about DK sizing though... Do they run small or large, and how much do they stretch? I'm just trying to figure out what size you should be on the lookout for. We can discuss other preferences later, but I wanted input from you and Angie and others who are familiar with the brand. Do DK's pop up at the Wrack frequently? Wow, my U.S. store envy is raging out of control!
Angie: Ok, I'll buy more RL's. They aren't even outrageously priced $90-ish, as I recall.

Angie, no waist adjustments needed... Just the length. Seems that premium denim is a lot longer than non-premium! I'm guessing these are a 34 inch inseam and I need 33. Not a big deal though.

Michelle, I'm going to be at work all day but I will respond in more detail later. I think the DKs run a little small but they stretch. Mine are size 18 but most of my other jeans are size 16. Angie, do you think Michelle and I would wear the same size in jeans? They do pop up randomly at the Rack but my location at home in California had a ton and I'm going to be flying home soon so I will look around for you! I'll direct message you later tonight to work out the details!

Hmmm. I’m not sure if you’re the same size or not and jeans are tricky. I guess you gals should measure what you have privately and compare. Marianna, measure your DK’s in size 18 and compare those stats to Michelle’s RL jeans. You’re both tall which will make for a successful comparison. Good stuff!

Marianna, do you think that Michelle should get the Paige instead of the DKs'? You are doing a sterling job of selling that style to me.

I am late here, but wanted to chime in and say that you look absolutely incredible in them. What an amazing find!

Btw, welcome to the "premium denim addicts not-so-anonimous" I am afraid there is no way back anymore, you will never want to buy a non-premium pair again.

Angie - I'm not sure which pair Michelle would like better. The DKs are roomier in the legs and I read online that the Paige's are better for plus size women with slimmer legs. My legs aren't slim but I definitely understand where that idea comes from. The Paige jeans run VERY small too (I sized up two sizes compared to my regular jean size, sad). The Paige jeans were also more expensive -- $90 versus DKs for $60. Not a huge difference, I guess. I was wearing my DKs in the Bay Area meet-up pictures for reference (maybe you can suggest which style would be best for Michelle).

I probably won't be able to get to a Filene's Basement for the Paige jeans for a few weeks as I'm flying back to California on Saturday.... but my local Nordstrom Rack had a ton of plus size David Kahns when I was at home a few weeks ago. My gut instinct is that they're still there. I also don't think the Paige Premium jeans are going anywhere. They've obviously been hidden away somewhere because the line was discontinued more than a year ago (I think). Filene's Basement had a TON of them.

Any tips on how to measure the jeans? I've never done this before.

I wish I could come up with some Paige Premiums. I've never seen them at my local Racks. I live in jeans and I'm willing to spend some money on them but it's so hard to find any.

Marianna, I vote the DK's for Michelle. Measure the front and back rise, and waist and compre those to Michelle's RL's. If you get stuck again, shout.

So so so so jealous. Not only that you found all these amazing premium jeans in plus sizes but that you also have The Rack and Filene's Basement, neither of which exist in Canada. *sigh*
