Me too:( Norway Duties sigh

I just did some shopping last week, so I'm not buying anything at NAS...I'm not buying anything at NAS....I'm not....what was their web address again?...no, no, I'm not buying anything....

I'm sitting it out too. I've just gotten over the last round of returns and am feeling tired of shopping. Maybe it's the Texas heat, but I can't imagine buying much more for fall/winter than I already own. About all I can manage is shorts and a tank right now.

Me! There's just no way I can get all the way to a Nordie's right now, and if I did I wouldn't have anything to spend, but I enjoy seeing everyone else's haul

Make some room on the bench! I'm the Luddite who still shops B+M stores. The idea of NAS makes me hyperventilate.

I'm consoling myself with an upcoming trip to Toronto for a race, and my first visit to a Danier leather store! Hoping to find a perfect moto (my first, ever, leather jacket!).

I had that same thought, Shannon! But more like, not participating because the stuff I saw in the preview catalog didn't pique my interest at all, and I figured I'd get bored with all the NAS discussion. Is there more than what's in the catalogue?

Consider me an enthusiastic spectator:). I will cheering everyone on from the sidelines

I will be enjoying this vicariously too.

I'm hovering my rear just above the bench. I won't get back to Seattle till Saturday. Plus I just met with my financial advisor regarding long term planning.

Joining Deborah in the Australian chapter. Mind you with the cost of clothing here I could probably pay the duties & be better off

I, too, am on the bench. However, I absolutely love seeing all of the fabulous things that the players come home with. Can't wait!

I am mostly sitting it out. I did order a couple of seamed skirts because they are my uniform and I have been looking for a red one and a purple one for quite some time. I've also been looking for the perfect cognac bag so I ordered a couple to try out. Will only keep one if it is indeed perfect.

Other than that, I'm out.

I'm not necessarily sitting it out, but I wasn't "wowed" by the NAS catalogue this year, and I will wait to see what Angie ends up posting on the blog re: her picks and recommendations. I usually do that anyway.

Meanwhile, it's such a shame that Nordstrom uses FiftyOne. I know my Mom has been able to order online from US retailers (ie. Land's End) where the retailer is able to charge the duty right on her invoice, instead of having a third party (such as FiftyOne) getting involved. If it weren't for FiftyOne, I bet my Mom would be ordering stuff during the NAS too! It's not the duty, it's the fact that third party processing companies are charging an arm and a leg for their "services."

Ah well....soon there'll be Nordstrom stores opening in Canada.

That said, I'm kind of excited about Suz and Sveta's plans to hit the NAS (in person!) ....can't wait to see what they get and how it all works out!

I'm with you, Caro. ...I'd order online, but since I've lost weight, I don't know what size I am anymore.
I moved here a few months ago from the US, and had caught wind of "outrageous prices". My first trip through Myer and David Jones was a sobering experience!

Everything I see is usually "nice, but not for me". I'm leaving myself the option of jumping into the fray, but honestly, I can't see it happening. I've never shopped the NAS before, either.

I really enjoy everyone's excitement about the NAS--and I pay attention to Angie's picks--but during the past two years I've been a YLF member I've bought only one measly item per NAS: A pair of loafers in 2011 and a Hinge top in 2012. Even though I LOVE fall weather, I just can't get too excited about fall/winter clothing when the temps are still super hot.

Oddly, I love buying spring/summer clothing as early as possible. I need the NAS to be moved to February!

Well I don't have early access so I am benched by default right now. I will be in New York during the sale and am determined to buy something (shoes or a jacket probably) that I will very likely possibly (but not necessarily) return. I love, love, love reading about other people's purchases and Angie's posts about NAS though. I am vicarious that way!

After some general weakening in resolve, and some online browsing, I remembered reading this on The Vivienne Files, so I went back and found the link to read it again...

We could have quite the party on the bench with this group

Anna - you made me laugh with your "hovering rear" comment!

Runcarla, make room on the sidelines for another luddite. I'm a brick-and-mortar gal too. And we don't have a Nordstrom yet in Vancouver. It's easy not to be tempted when you don't even browse the website!

I've been unenthused about shopping for the past 6 months, and the NAS preview catalogue didn't pull me off the bench either.

Not saying I won't shop NAS (this penguin needs to refresh her bras!), but it's probably going to be boring ol' basics this time around.

ah ah love the ideia! We don't have NAS here!

Save a spot for me.....I would love to do NAS this year but cannot risk the long shipping return cycle to Norway. But someone might need to tie me to the bench...arms extended

I'll bring some treats as I'm not participating in NAS either since I had a lot of expenses from a recent trip and I've got a closet full of items that need to be enjoyed.

Will you please grab on to my extended hand? Thanks for hosting this support group, Shannon! You're making me feel better.

I may have to join the B&M club. So tired of return and not even mentioning the hairy eyeball that I get from kids and DH every time the bell rings.

Oh boo, I lost my post!

It's looking eyes and no touching fingers for me this NAS.

Glad to hear we have mucho hand holding 'cause as Angie posts about what she's seeing and others are posting about what they're buying, it gets harder to stay strong. But we can do this ladies

After reviewing the catalog, nothing piqued my interest beyond a gear jacket, so I didn't schedule an appointment as originally anticipated. Plus, I don't need a whole lot any more; most are #3s. That being said, I have placed a couple of orders, mostly for footwear since my fussy feet are happiest in wide widths.

The good news is that I am excellent at keeping track of receipts which I place over the hanger on which the item is hanging, and I am excellent about making returns. I think I gave myself enough time to order and return multiple sizes in the same shoe/bootie at staggered times so I don't tie up my card with $2,000 in charges which I could easily do with only two styles in multiple colors and sizes.

It's fun to see what everyone else is buying, but here in the desert, the summer's going to last awhile, so I'm not too interested in fall clothes yet. I'm also (1) losing weight - down 30, with 15 to go; and (2) on a budget. So I'm making bargain purchases right now, and Nordstrom Rack is probably as spendy as I want to be at the moment. However, I've picked up some really cute deals lately, so I'm not feeling sorry for myself in the slightest. $10 military anorak at JCPenney, $13 floral blazer at the Rack, $14 faded denim moto jacket from kohls.com, and a few things from a new favorite store, Downeast Basics: a $15 jersey dress, $22 retro print skirt with pockets, and $40 splurge on a great striped maxi dress - with short sleeves, which has been hard to find.

Definitely staying on the bench but cheering the happy shoppers.
We might as well get some drinks and snacks for the bench party
