Just came back from Danier where I endured 0.5h photo session with my hubby for Inge...I remember now why I LOVE my tripod!

Anyway my report:

1. White (Inge's selection)
I am seriously in love, my wallet beware when this beauty goes on sale! I think the length is perfect for my tall frame and fit is spot on. Sleeves have zippers.

2-4 Teal (Inge's selection)
I tried on 2 sizes. In the pictures Medium is on the left and Large is on the right. I felt Large is too big IMO, even in hips. The color is blue on the teal side. The leather is not as soft and pliable as the white one, for me it would be more difficult to wear this one indoors.

5 Electric blue (my selection)
This is another blue jacket I propose for Inge. The leather is as soft as in the white one and I like the fit better as well. The color is deeper and darker (or brighter) blue, not quite cobalt but close. Sleeves end in cuffs which have stitching and a bit thicker than the sleeves (like double leather).

6 This one is to show blue colors together. I feel teal photographs a bit deeper than IRL but maybe you can see the difference.

Yay!!!! I knew your report would be helpful. This is brilliant Sveta.

I have a feeling that you, me, and Inge may soon be white jacket triplets. I believe if they had the white one in the store in my size I would have bought it, sale or no sale.

Could you get any info from the SA about when it *might* go down in price? I am curious. For me the fit on that jacket was also great...even though I am shorter I take a proportionately smaller size and it seemed to work. Also, did you note that the collar on that one can be "trained" to fold back so that the jacket looks more like a blazer? This was one nice feature that I figured out in my test drive. It does not work as well if the jacket is not in the appropriate size.

I agree 100% about the blue jacket. I loved it, but it did not feel like an indoor jacket somehow. And the fit was not as comfortable for me as on the other one.

Love the other blue jacket, too!

Angie, Jayne and Ceit, actually I am glad to ANY excuse to visit Danier store and try on jackets. It is my hubby who is an angel!
Suz, I asked but she does not know. I would say 2-3 months for sure. As much as I love it I cannot afford it at full price now with my trip expenses I have to wait for sale.
BTW, you would need to show me what you meant on 'trained back collar" - you must be sharper than I because I could not figure it out
Shannon, I think it may be too long. This is size M and back length is 22.5" from the collar base on the central seam. I think you take the same size M, right? It is a good length for me so I suspect too long for you...but you can only try and hope, right?

These are really cool - and the white jacket looks amazing on you (well, so does electric blue...). I always mean to stop by Danier when I go to Canada, and always end up rushing somewhere so it never happens.

OK, first one is easy: I am SO getting the white jacket:-)

The blue one is harder: I really like the electric blue one you prefer for me, Sveta (and again, thanks so much for the recommendation), but for the moment I feel the style is a little to similar to the white one.
The tealish blue one, was my first choice because for my current style I'm really looking for quite sleek leather jackets with a minimalistic vibe. This one fits the bill. But both you and Suz have commented that you think the leather quality is not as fab. That makes me a little hesitant. You also mentioned that it feels more like an outdoor jacket. I would really like to be able to wear mine indoors as well...

Perhaps I should just get the white one and see what might pop up over the next months (also: it doesn't *have* to be blue, it was the style that attracted me to this one in the first place).

Inge, it is tricky. The sales associate told us that it IS the same leather in white and blue jackets, but the dye itself and the way the leather is treated can affect the finish. The white jacket has a very soft "hand." Not as soft as the fawn jacket that Mona tried on yesterday (she would be able to compare very accurately). THAT one (the fawn) is the softest I've felt there. It is just lovely -- but you also get the sense that it would stretch a lot, and quickly. Which is why it would be important to buy it quite snug.

The blue jacket that you chose, in constrast, has a much tougher feel to it. I believe that it would soften over time, but it would take more time. I don't think it would feel "wrong" to wear it indoors (and certainly the cut would allow for that). But it would not feel quite as comfortable for the first month, I expect.

The white jacket was in between these two. I wore it in the store for 10 or 15 minutes and really did not want to take it off...even though they did not have my correct size, already it felt as if it was conforming to me.

I didn't wear the blue jacket as long. But I didn't want to wear it as long. FWIW.

That white jacket is heavenly. I prefer the cobalt blue jacket in looks, and your report made it sound more comfortable too.

It's so sweet of you to chime in again, Suz. Your intel (and Sveta's, of course) has been invaluable. I can't tell you what a luxury it is to have all this extra info + photos + your highly appreciated opinions on fit, colour and quality. Thank you again for all this!

OK ladies, I have made my decision: I am going to order the white jacket (I'm hoping it will look as fab on me as it does on Suz and Sveta). I'll leave the teal blue jacket in the store. My top priority was a white leather jacket, which will fill a wardrobe hole. Anything else would have been a bonus but not absolutely necessary, so I'm just going to keep looking around and who knows what might turn up over the next months.

P.S. Mona looks stunning in her fawn jacket.

Inge, I have been thinking about getting a white jacket too, mainly because I love how white looks when I wear my new white specs -- do you have examples of how you would wear it? You have dark hair like mine I think. What colours do you normally wear and how would this jacket fit in? I am very curious, and thank you for your insight

I think you would look smashing in a white leather jacket, Ceit.
I actually have a white pleather jacket (you can see part of it in my avatar) pic. It's a moto style and mainly for outdoor wear, but I LOVE that jacket. Somehow the colour and the "leather" vibe always make me feel modern and sassy. That's the reason I've been looking for a fab real leather one for so long.

I've thrown my pleather jacket over practically anything in my closet: jeans, boyfriend jeans, slouchy trousers, slim fitting pants, pencil skirts, dresses (love it over my black belted shirtdress, last time I paired it with bone-coloured slouchy boots and black patterned hose). I do have mid-brown hair and don't always feel the need to bookend, so I'll happily wear a white leather jacket with darker footwear, e.g.

I mainly wear the "cooler" colour shades because they are more flattering on me. My favourite colours are: denim blues, ink blue, navy, teals, purples, burgundies, greys, fuchsia, a lot of greens, cream, white, and I also love light blue, lavender and mint.

I'll add some visuals here in a bit, to show you how I want to wear my new white jacket. I think it will go with so much in my closet, from my grey slim-fitting Theory trousers, ink blue tapered slouchy trousers, black pinstripe wide-legged trousers, cobalt blue straight-legged jeans, my regular jeans and BF jeans in different blue washes, teal and purple pencil skirts, slouchy winter White trousers, wide-legged light grey trousers, most of my sweaters, shirts and blouses (lots of stripes, a few argyles, solid colours...).

Ceit, I do think this could work for you. The only issue would be whether it would get incredibly dirty given kids/ your work, etc or whether you'd feel hesitant to wear it for fear of dirt.

It would look amazing with all your blues, burgundies, browns. Basically, you can put on a white jacket and the whole winter wardrobe is instantly "lightened" into spring -- a pretty neat trick in our climate when we actually have to wear winter weight clothing right into May, a lot of the time...and others are sporting fresh summery looks. This is what is making me consider the jacket. I have always felt at quite a loss with spring dressing in our climate.

For spring (if it goes on sale in time for that here) I would wear with my slouchy distressed skinnies, my slouchy black pants, my grey/ blue/ black printed pants from Ann Taylor, my white jeans, my black, navy, or cobalt and taupe pencil skirts. With black, grey, white, fuchsia, orchid, red, taupe shirts, tops, blouses or sweaters underneath.

For footwear, my Pettys (snake) or my Reports (light taupe) or my DVs (darker taupe/ light brown). Or black. Or whatever fun spring shoes I can find.

I don't think you'd really need to worry about bookending footwear, Ceit -- although a lighter toned shoe or boot would be nice to add to the collection. But with your glasses, that would be echo enough, perhaps - no need to worry about the hair.

I forgot to ask that I am absolutely plan to wear the white jacket in all four seasons. As Suz so rightly points out it can instantly "lighten" up any outfit. So that makes it extra versatile, right (says enabler Inge).

Inge, I hope you buy the white and I can see why you were drawn to the blue as you would look spectacular in it. But, with the mixed reviews on the "feel" of the leather, that may be something to give pause.

I think Suz has already been convinced to do so.

I'm drooling over these cropped leather posts and it's very difficult to watch from the sidelines. But, everyone looks so good in Danier.

Thanks, this really is helpful. Suz, good point about the white, but actually I don't mind when things get broken in -- must be the RATE in me. For some reason white jeans I still can't quite jump into, but a leather jacket would be fine. If I was doing something super mucky the jacket would come off anyhow

Really really helpful -- I didn't manage to sneak away to the mall today so I am hoping tomorrow!

It will be soon: Sveta has very kindly offered to help me purchaese it. I can't believe my luck! (and it's all my "fault" that both Sveta and Suz have now fallen in love with it too: they both went to the store to try it on for me... and the rest is history...)
