Thank you for indulging my obsession with Michelle Williams' hair. Here she is in Cannes with a new 'do.

Now I have to beg my colorist to make me a platinum blonde!

What do you all think? Love it or hate it?

In theory, I love it - I had it last year when I first cut my hair, before I went to the super-short pixie. On me, though, it started to take on a kind of "Flock of Seagulls" vibe...and, while I love 80s music, I don't love it THAT much.

But if it will work for your hair type and your face, I say go for it, because it's really an adorable haircut.

It is an adorable cut (and she is an adorable girl) and I think it would look very flattering and cute on you. Fun for summer

But, just in case your hair has some quirks that would make it high maintenance, check with your stylist and hear her thoughts.

Also, I am always frustrated by hair coloring maintenance, so could you get a similar effect by using platinum highlights?? Then the regrowth isn't such a drag (I know you are normally blonde, but I don't know how close/far you are from platinum).

Another also, my brunette DD once wanted to be "Gwen Stefani" blonde, and the best they could do on her hair (with FIVE hours of work) was more yellow than she intended. But I guess it gave a brunette the blonde fix she was looking for. . . I don't know if you have any red tones in your hair to alter the results.

I love it too! The catch is that platinum is HIGH maintenance, you know. Sigh.

I love it, but not as much as I did her pixie cut of a couple years ago. I remember thinking how well she pulled that style off.

Love the colour she's got here. I used to get blonde highlights but gave up because of the cost and maintenance. Did love the look, though.

I like this cut - more than her former pixie cut, in fact - and I think the blonde is nice but not necessary. Going peroxide is a huge investment: in cost, in time, and sometimes in condition of hair. So, I'd go for the cut and live with it for a little while before deciding if you want to take it the extra step with the colour.l

I'm going to be the odd one out. I don't prefer Michelle's hair that colour. Nor do I like the extra weight of the hair in front. I MUCH preferred the pixie cut she had several years ago. Better colour, more texture and a much more mod attractive look.

That 2007 pixie cut was very Mia Farrow. And it was the model for my first big haircut!

I do like the softness of her hair now, although I bet the length in front could drive you batty.

(And yes Angie, there are as many opinions as there are ladies on this forum!)

The color would concern me some. Depending on how dark your hair is. The darker your hair the harder it is to keep up is my understanding.

I love Michelle Williams and I use her photos to guide my hairdresser but I don't think I'll be turning my hair platinum blonde like her. It is a cute haircut, however it could quickly teeter over into frumpy without enough maintenance.

I don't like it at all. I am totally biased against straight-up platinum blonde. It looks terribly unhealthy, one-dimensional, and flat to me. The phoniest hair color imaginable. I'm not sure about the cut either. She has such an adorable face and pretty smile that she can really do no wrong. But I don't know if it's a great idea for most people..

Michelle can do no wrong, she is adorable and one of my favorite actresses. Laura you are also adorable and could wear any hairdo Michelle can wear. Sorry if adorable is on your list of worst compliments! Haha! It's actually one of my favorite compliments to give out.

Laura, I don't mind the platinum blonde look on Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga. It works on rock stars somehow. They are VERY dramatic and over the top. But Michelle Williams is soft and deer-like with brown puppy eyes. It just doesn't work in my not so humble opinion. Too hard and fake looking. Such a waste on such a pretty face!

Dawn hit the nail on the head with respect to the fringe. It's going to look frumpy without the perfect amount of fuss each day.

I also like your current do 1000000% better. I can be more succinct if you like :0)

I don't really mean to squelch/fuel any platinum bonde fire, BUT one of the ladies featured in Isaac Mizrahi's book "How to Have Style" was a young lady who went from drab blonde to platinum blonde ala Kim Novak/Gwen Stefani, and she said the difference was dramatic. To quote:

My platinum blonde hair has changed my life! It definitely attracts a lot of attention from guys. Cowboys in particular like platinum blondes! My hair gets noticed at the office too. Now the president of our company knows who I am and says hello whenever I pass him in the hall. It can be hard to stand out in a company off 65,000 employees! What is better than that? I'm a whole new Lara Hall.

Hmmm -- something completely diffferent to consider besides the high maintenance issue

Platinum blonde is attention-getting ... for better or worse, right?

Somewhere I read that Michelle is trying to get a Marilyn Monroe role. Perhaps the platinum is supposed to convince the producers that she's the one for the role (although I would think that Scarlett Johanson would be the automatic frontrunner, wouldn't you?).

I only like platinum blonde as Angie said: on rock stars, or supplemented with other color to tone it down. On someone like Lady Gaga it makes sense. Her style is totally over the top (to put it mildly) and so is her hair. I would treat platinum blonde like pink hair or other crazy unnatural colors. I know it's supposed to be glamorous but to me it just looks overprocessed. Dare I say even Marilyn Monroe would have looked better in a more golden blonde.

Also: Most people probably said Holly Golightly was Marilyn's role, but it ended up going to Audrey Hepburn and eventually became her signature character. Just a thought. I'm sure they could pad her up a little here and there...
