footwear trends last spring vs. this spring

Last year remember the biggies-the foot bed sandals and espadrilles. still seeing them this year, but also am seeing the lace ups and block heels everywhere. Looks like white sneakers and slip ons are going to be around for a long while. Since footwear seems to be one of those more difficult things to shop for, it is now time to start planning and shopping for them. Still lots of boots and winter stuff on sale and not a lot of spring/summer out yet though. what are your thoughts on what you are planning to get, currently looking for or ?

I definitely need two more pair of slip-on sneakers. I also am looking for a black loafer with a chunky heel. I have not seen anything I like, yet. But as you said, it is still early.

I can't wear much of a heel anymore, I have bunions to hide, and I need a D width with arch support, so my footwear choices are extremely limited. I have plenty of boots. I may look for some new sandals; not sure yet.

Quite liking the block heels. I need a few pairs of higher shaft ankle booties as well as some flat footwear with high ankle straps. Thinking of passing on my slip-on sneakers, but going to keep wearing my classic slim Vans lace-up sneakers. Also on the lookout for any style of mirror-shiny metallic.

Hi AT. I'm only aware of the trends that have made it to YLF.
My shoe capsule needs work. I want to bring it into 2016. The things I'm planning on buying this spring/summer are:
- Block heeled strappy sandals (to go with midi skirt, shorts)
- White sneakers (sporty luxe)
- a pointy loafer or oxford
- leather slides
- plastic flip flops (replacement)

I'd really like to have all these in my wardrobe and am willing to lower the price point and buy less clothing to get them all.

I'm hanging on to all my existing footwear.

Laced sneakers seem to be making a comeback after all the slip ons. This is more summer, I guess, but cage/gladiator sandals seem to be out, and I'm not seeing many Birkenstock looks. Those ghillie flats with the laces on the top of the foot to the ankle are quite common. There are still plenty of ballet flats to be had, but smoking slippers, penny loafers, oxfords, all seem trendier.

I am still looking for a pair of black oxfords with a brown sole - I've got a cheap pair but it's not an all day walking shoe. I replaced my black gladiators with a different pair at the end of the season sales last fall, and the rest of my sandals are still ok, so I don't need anything urgently for summer. I would like to find something to replace the white Birk-alikes I have from target - they're not the highest quality and were never 100% my style anyway, but I did find the light color really useful to go with some summer outfits where black or brown felt too heavy.

This summer I have mostly worn my black flat sandals, black block heel sandals, and my beaded thongs. I have worn cork sole wedges but they are not feeling quite as great now.

Beaded thongs/jandals I find a summer classic for evening wear at BBQ etc. I don't think they are very trendy but they are an essential for me.

For beach, walks etc I have worn a mix of Asics running shoes, rubber jandals and Merrell sandals.

I have just added two pairs of flat shoes - my only two pairs. On Final Closing Down Sale I added some metallic scallop end ballet flats and some cognac pointy toe flats. Both all leather and a very good deal. As I have worn either boots, sandals or sneakers for the last two years I wonder if I will wear them. I am thinking March-May and then again September to November they will get a fair bit of use.

I've got my eye on two pair of sandals I'll pick up shortly: one is a block heeled (2 inches) black suede lace-up ghillie style sandal and the other is a dusty mid-blue suede block heeled scrappy sandal with burnished metal stud detail. I expect both to be everyday shoes and can't wait to get wearing them. I'm loaded up on sneakers but am excited to see what else is coming into stores in the next 2 months or so. I bought a pair of leather /patent flat espadrilles at the end of last summer (not worn yet) and really hope I'm still into them this spring. That was a risk .

I will be stalking Aida, I guess. I too would like some block heels and more high-shaft booties. I wouldn't mind a pair of lace-up flats as well. I'm kind of in a seventies mood, so maybe a pair of chunky platforms will find their way into my closet...hee hee.

Oh, the ghillie/sandal hybrid is really interesting, lisap. I'd never wear one with that high a heel myself, but I like the look of it.

Smittie, are you looking for slip-on sneaks? I just snagged these white Report ones from Amazon on super-sale. They're not high-end but seem to be pretty comfy considering. And I like the perforated look for the warmer months.

Here f/w sales are still going strong, so I haven't seen what's next. I tried tovgo on the websites of my favorite brands, buy they don't have spring stuff yet!
Anyway. I'll need a pair of beige/off white sandals, probably a wedged pair, to substitute for my old ones. And maybe a pair of black pumps with a wooden stacked heel.

I haven't even given a thought to s/s yet. I did get a glance of my sandals when I went digging for some to take on my Mexico vacation, and I think my collection is in pretty good shape. I have 3 pairs of slip-on sneakers, my old Ash Genial wedge sneakers, and a couple of pairs of old low-top Cons that are still in good shape but I don't wear them much (I don't like how clownish they look on me with shorts or any cropped lengths, so they are strictly worn with jeans). I did absolutely love my pointed toe platform loafers last year, and I've looked at others, but the fit has not been right -- my heels slip right out of most of them. I suppose I'll see what comes around that gets my attention as the weather warms up. I'm in no rush, since I'm still shoveling snow.

I want a pair of pointy toe flats, not sure exactly what color or style yet. I'm also interested in a lace up ghillie style, similar to what lisap posted. Maybe in black - I'm always looking for black summer sandals.

All I know is I can't get any more booties. I copied Angie's white Zaras and am pleased but I have to stop.

yes the espadrille seems to be every where, as does the block heel....last year I passed on the espadrilles but I'm seeing dressier one this year, so I think I'll probably get a pair, and i'm looking for a great block heel shoe, probably in a cognac.

I'm a little sad that everyone is pronouncing wedge sneakers dead in the water. I still love those darn Ash Genials. I don't mind parting with the older Ash Bowies.

It looks like mules are starting to trend. Ack. As if I don't already have enough trouble with walking out of my shoes. I have one oooold pair from years ago that I kept, which I'll make an attempt to wear -- I think they'd look pretty cool with cropped jeans, actually, but on a day when I don't have to do much walking. But they are not the easiest thing to wear.

It will be interesting to see what's new in terms of casual shoes, mainly sandals and sneakers.

Ooh, Angie, if you can find me some fabulous WHITE sandals I will love you even more than I already do. I have been on the hunt ever since I joined YLF and have never found my perfect white sandal -- yet every year I curse the lack of it!! I do have pewter and pale taupe (both of which sort of bookend and fulfil the light coloured footwear thing) -- but oh, how I long for white to complete some outfits.

I'd also love a pair of bright coloured sandals again this year.
