Footwear for the new shorter flared and bootcut denim . Ideas ?

What are the newest footwear options for NON full length flared or bootcut denim ? I don’t think I’ll ever try wide legs again , but I still am very interested in a different denim silhouette , and the shorter flares or bootcuts seem like a good choice both climate/weather-wise , and for my height . If I buy regular flared jeans , they are always far too long , and I know myself well enough now that I won’t ever take the next step and book time with a tailor to have them hemmed . I don’t mind the “new” shorter length Angie writes about , but I have no idea what footwear ( NOT SNEAKERS = too casual and masculine on me with jeans ) to style them with ! I’m thinking boots as we’ll be out of shoe weather pretty soon here.

What’s looking new and interesting to you for footwear ? Is anyone even wearing this style of denim ?

Is "shorter flares" different from cropped flares? I've been wearing those forever, it seems. I prefer this style with a little heel, so heeled booties (or small heeled sandals in warm weather - although flat booties also work well (just are a bit stumpifying).

Vivian - cropped flares can sometimes be pretty short on me - which is fine - but I was thinking of jeans that hit more at the ankle bone or a bit shorter . I don’t know what I’m talking about actually - maybe I’m making up something that doesn’t exist .

Angie, yes , I know what you’re wearing Are you dressing any of your clients in jeans this length ? And in what kind of boots ??

Lisa, what about modern cowboy boots - the kind which is hugging the ankles (kind of tailored)? I have been thinking about something like that for myself - Zara has such boots in their collection now… I am not an expert, but read that these are trending now.
Otherwise, chunky Chelsea boots or combat boots could be good too…

It’s a very tricky length to wear due to the leg shortening aspect of the horizontal line created by the shorter hem and contrasting footwear. Definitely need the leg lengthening of a high waisted pant and tucked top.

For a Canadian winter - a slim bootie like #3.

I feel similar about my cropped flares - not much wear happened this year ( and I was hoping to make them my statement/workhorse pants for spring ;( ). I've got wingtips in soft grey color but even though I liked the look with cropped pants - I disliked the absence of comfort - double failure.

Most of my pants and jeans are ankle length, wide legs, straight, kick flare etc. And I wear ballet and sandals in summer, low-heeled pumpers, loafers, oxfords, boots sneakers, everything. Just try and you will find your best footwear. Good luck.
