Food looks fab.and the thought of being able to buy fresh peaches straight from a farm!I never think to photograph my food on the whole but we had a bumper strawberry crop this year thanks to our unusually glorious weather so here are photos of the sponge and sundaes that we had.

1: pizza with rocket salad
2: courgettes ratatouille with rice
3: tomato risotto with chard
4: omelette with baby pak choy
5: lentil dahl, potato curry and rice

The plate is 18 cm, trying to reduce the sizes!

I made a sour cream peach pie from an old cookbook with very odd instructions. It was pretty good, but I want to make more adjustments. My mum’s pie tastes better when she does this recipe but it comes out swimming in water. My grandma would never eat it because of the watery-ness.

I made pesto yesterday. We have a big pot of basil on the deck that is doing very well. It was delicious! Tomato salad with homegrown tomatoes, too.

A chipmunk got my first vine ripening red tomatoe, so I harvested a few as they turned orange and set them on the kit hen windowsill. Sliced a big ‘un today for BLT’s and it was beefy and sweet (not watery and acidic). Mmmm!

Because I made refrigerator dill pickles several days ago, I’ve made hamburgers twice, and also lunch sandwiches with peanut butter and pickles (not shown) - an old favorite I learned from my dad.

1. hamburgers, apple salad, baked beans
2. pineapple upside down cupcake with whipped cream. The recipe makes 24, so I gave some to the neighbor for his birthday!
3. hotdog, potato salad, guacamole and chips lunch on the deck
4. salmon, sweet potato, broccoli
5. cold cuts and veggie wrap, Doritos and cherries lunch
6. taco salad, cantaloupe
7-9. potatoes from neighbor’s garden made into potato salad, with corn and pork chop

Sorry no photos but I have been experimenting with cooking my favorite restaurant dishes at home. Today was Sichuan mapo tofu (vegetarian) and eggplant. Both turned out great. Fried mushrooms were a great pork substitute in the mapo tofu.
