So! What have you been up to in the kitchen? Have you dined out on anything particularly wonderful (and photo worthy)? Any famous family recipes coming out for US Thanksgiving or other fall/winter holidays?

Cool days call for books, a fire in the fireplace, soup and home made bread!

#1 Spanish chickpea and Chorizo Soup (a hard boiled egg is chopped or grated into the soup after it is dished out!)
#2 Rhondda’s Cold Water Bread
#3-4 Cinnamon rolls
#5 pear and onion topped squash (a family recipe)

No pics- cause portioned out for the week, but:
Tofu with creamy tomato sauce, roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, pepitas, goat cheese, sundried tomatoes.
Oatmeal with brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, sweet and spicy pecans, and orange dried cranberries.

Made a very good African chicken soup that ticked all the boxes : creamy yet dairy free , and with no peanut anything . Pulled it off the internet

I’ve been slightly obsessed with this cake lately. It’s seasonably fabulous and not too much work to bake. Luckily, everyone else enjoys it or I’d be 10 pounds heavier.

Oh my gosh, Carla! I think I gained 10 lbs just LOOKING at those delicious cinnamon rolls!

We are hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, and everyone coming is traveling from out of town, so I am in charge of the meal. I am scrambling to find recipes!

Delicious, everyone!! I have not made anything too interesting lately due to picky children and husband with high blood pressure and cholesterol *sigh* ... But I did make a yummy, simple zucchini and potato soup served with crusty baguette the other day that was warm and comforting (and one of my kids actually ate, which is pretty good on this house *sigh again*) ...

It all looks very yummy. I just spent the last week in an AirBnB in Toronto the size of a closet. Minimal cooking for us.

Just finished making: 3 jars of banana chutney. Got hooked on sweet-not-hot fruit chutneys when we lived in South Africa. The nearest approximation available locally, President's Choice brand Peach, seems to have gone off the market, and Indian style mango chutneys are not the same, too hot.
We'll see how this turns out, and yes, I welcome recipes.

Tonight I made pan fried halibut, oven fried potato wedges, and coleslaw incorporating carrots and dill from my garden. Tomorrow if the snow melts I will harvest the last of my beets and Swiss Chard.

Corn chowder (below).

And also roasted nopales and roasted corn salad (no pic). I’m trying decolonising my diet - well, a meal here and there. It’s interesting cooking with ONLY ingredients from the Americas!

@racheylou - I LOVE corn chowder! In the early days of my job, when I travelled to see clients, I discovered a restaurant in a small train station that had corn chowder as the ‘soup of the day’ on Wednesday’s. I would schedule my trips to that community for Wednesday’s so I could have their corn chowder for lunch!

@l’Abeille - I’m familiar with the PC Peach chutney! Nice with a cheese and cracker plate.

No pics here either, but I made key lime cookies a couple of weeks ago (King Arthur recipe) which received raves from all. And since I had the key lime juice I made a key lime pie and with the egg whites that the pie does not use I made peppermint chocolate chip meringue cookies. I guess I have been on a baking streak lately.

I really want to make crab mac and cheese and have been on a hunt to find a recipe. Anyone have a good one?

My resolution for the new years is getting fitter! its just 8 days and I find every food that I cannot eat so yummyy. The cake looks literally delicious! I was recently searching for healthy yet yummy recipes and found this one (https://bestkitchenbuy.com/5-b.....re-cooker/) very helpful
