Maybe the recent topic on bread baking has got you trying your hand at crafting a loaf? I bake bread at least once a month. I have a very simple recipe for a white bread, that I will sometimes make using wholewheat flour, or throw in some wheat bran. It makes a nice raisin bread, and I have also made it with a chocolate swirl a la pain au chocolate.

#1 yeast, sugar, warm water, and 2 cups of flour - let rise 1-2 hours
#2 Then 6 cups of cold water alternated with flour, mixed until stiff, then dumped onto the counter and kneaded for 20 minutes.
#3 Set to rise.
#4 my timing was off, and dinner interrupted the process. I let it rise further while I ate. It overflowed the bowl!
#5 more kneading and shaping for buns and loaves
#6 the finished product! I rub butter over the tops while it is hot for a soft crust.

#7 lamb for dinner, with corn on the cob, honey glazed carrots, and mashed potatoes. Everything was local - within 20 km of where we live. Even the honey (though the bees may go further afield.)

#8 an informal autumn bouquet
