Since reaching teenage years, my 2 sons have been remembering me with roses for Mother's Day. Rose bushes, actually! When I lived in Northern Ontario, I treated them like annuals because the growing zone (2b) was so harsh. Only the 'John Cabot' made it through winter.

We moved to Southern Ontario (Zone 5) summer 2014, but my garden wasn't ready to receive new plantings last year. Roses have a better chance of a long life down here, so choice and placement is serious business! This year I received 2 - yellow climbers - 'Golden Showers' and 'Yellow Blaze'.

DH insisted on a garden ornament - to celebrate my other passion!

1. My John Cabot
2. Baby roses
3. Golden Showers
4. Yellow Blaze
5. In the herb garden (too early for any herbs though!)
