Floral top! K/R? - YouLookFab Forum

Finally the floral top I ordered last week arrived! Keep/return? (I do like it! But I still want to hear your honest opinions!)

#1 with rolled denim skinnies #2 from the back (I like the low cut)
#3 the big test! With the blue skirt, which is mainly why I bought it.

Sorry no shoes, just some quick pics before bed!

In Sweden we celebrate something called midsummer in the end of June. Originally it's something to do with solstice and things like that, but now it's mainly a reason to get together with family and friends, eat special food and celebrate together! And the thing is that Daniel and I are having a midsummer party with our friends this year, and I wanted to wear my blue skirt with a floral top. Is this the top? (Will iron the skirt before the party!)

(Added pic for fun, when we celebrate midsummer properly we have these fun "midsummer poles" that we dance around! Haha. We won't have that for our party though...)

I like the top better with the pants.

The top is nice. Not sure about it with the skirt though. Maybe it's because of the tucking of it? That skirt seems like it is made for tucking though. hmm.

The top is really pretty on you. I love it with the jeans and agree that the low back is a lovely feature. (As one who also lives in a Northern climate -- I am in Canada -- I understand the wish to dress for every drop of sunshine!)

I am not sure how I feel about it with the skirt, though, for some reason. Something seems off. Maybe because too much of the pattern is hidden. Yet the skirt demands a tucked blouse.

Can you try it with shoes, etc. as you would wear it? There may be an issue of proportion.

Hey - loo-oo--ve it with the jeans. Love those jeans on you.

The skirt is a cool blue while the top is warm. If the white were whiter in the shirt, I would like the look more.

The top is perfect with the jeans, maybe needs a wide belt with the skirt, if you tuck. A transitional bit of business, that might talk to the shoes?

The top is quite cheap so I'll probably keep it and wear it with pants. But it's really too bad that it's not perfect with the skirt... And I see what you all mean! Smittie, I think you're onto something there with the warm/cool colours... I'll try it with shoes, and a belt, tonight, and see if it helps! But if not, I wonder if I should just skip the idea I had and go with something else. But it's tricky once you get an idea, to just leave! At least for me

Did a quick search online and there are a few more options now than when I looked last time.

Found a GREAT top - crisp white and some blue in it! #1. But. They only have it in size 6, and that's not my size...

#2 might work? No blue in it but maybe that's not necessary... #3 is a bit of a wildcard! This look feels current now?

Any thoughts about these looks?

I didn't realise you were in Sweden! I love Midsommer and think you need a pole! Lol. I like the blue skirt with the floral top for a Midsommer celebration; it's more to the occasion in my mind. And I like the original floral best.

Thanks so much rachylou! Yup, born and bred in Sweden (with some periods in London, UK!)! I'm glad that you think the first floral top works - and yes, the idea of floral for midsummer has stuck in my mind; it is a celebration of summer after all, and what is more summer-y than flowers?

Hm. There's still a couple of weeks before the party, so I would have time to order another top and see which works best...

I'm going to echo the others - I love the top with the pants, not so much with the skirt. The skirt will definitely work better with a top that has white, and not off-white, in it.

Summer parties are always the best!

What a great top and it looks terrific with the jeans. It may not be 100% with the skirt but it is pretty good. Perhaps it is JGE (just good enough). It could be that something with a bit of white might also look very nice.
Once you have the shoes on and perhaps press out the skirt can we have another look?

I agree that the top is better with the pants and also think it's because it's too warm toned. Top #2 of your selection further down looks like it's worth a try, if you want to keep searching for a floral top for the skirt. The white background on that one is a true white and the colors of the flowers are sharper, I think it would be a better match for the icy blue of the skirt.

Thanks so much for all the new comments! I've just ordered the second of the new tops, the white one with red and black flowers. I really hope the size and style of it will be good, and of course that it will work with the skirt! And like Astrid points out, that top should be a better match..!

I figure once I get that top I'll iron the skirt and try it with shoes, and also a belt with at least the first top, to properly compare the two tops and see which is best. Maybe I'm going a bit crazy with these floral tops, but since I will be able to use them with other items too I think it's ok!
