Floral skirt - what do you think?

One of the items I've had on my Spring shopping list is a floral pencil skirt. My beloved floral dress has bitten the dust and I would like to replace with a skirt instead of a dress simply because of the versatility. The thing I liked most about my floral dress was that the background was black. For me and my wardrobe, that worked must better than a white background and IMHO, made the floral print a bit more modern. I adore florals but always want to be careful they don't look "old lady", you know?

Cleo Petite (one of my favorite stores and where I got my floral dress) has a lovely floral pencil skirt with black background that I'm thinking might be worth trying. Because of my floral sugar eye though, I wanted to see what y'all thought of the pattern and colors. It can easily be paired with tops in black, white, orchid, pale pink.

Over to you - what do you think?

I think it's really pretty and not old lady-ish. I like black backgrounds with florals too.

I have a sugar eye for florals too, especially ones that lend themselves to wearing with a number if different colors. But with your modern shoes and blazers it will look good I think. I was thinking about your white drapey t with this.

Oh yes, a hundred times yes! I like that it's not a complete floral, just enough to make it interesting a just a bit bold. I can't wait to see how it fits. The length looks good in the pic.

Since it's not a tiny floral print, and the print is on the diagonal, it almost reads as a graphic. I think that it would be worth trying.

There is a teeny part of me that wants it to have cobalt in it for versatility.
But re: the question of the floral, I think it does read more graphic and not ditsy and I expect you will pair it with some really good bold black & white, so I think it is really pretty and worth a try. Especially if you're able to bring home and try on with stuff before committing. Along the lines of Ingunn's query about her floral sweater, which also was not uniformly printed pattern, a lot of times you just have to see how the size and placement works with your proportions and the tops and jackets you will use.

Well I share that sugar eye for patterns and florals so my vote is to give it a try. Excited to see some possible Shannon creations with it.
