Sharan, I do have one pair of loafers -- the Paul Green platform loafers. These miraculously do not slip off my heels. I love the shape with the pointed toe, and the substantial sole. A bit funkier take on loafers. These have become such a staple, they are my go-to travel shoe -- easy to slip on and off in airport security, if need be. The sole separated from the rest of the shoe when I was in Portland this past summer, and I found a cobbler there in town who repaired them for me in just a couple of days. What a relief!

If I could find another pair like this, in a color like navy or burgundy, I'd be all over them.

Bijou, high five! These jeans are the best. I really like all my Mother jeans--so comfy. and I feel fab in them.

Sterling, thanks. You make me think: I can look at these like basically a dark shoe, not get too concerned with matching them to clothing.

Thanks, RobinF. I just ordered a long cardi in wool, too. Not quite as long as this one, but I do like long cardigans.

Kelly, thanks for chiming in!

Suz, I really appreciate your thoughts! The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of floral loafers for me, too. Your point about weather is good, though. I tend to get more wear out of my booties, too. But mild-weather options do have a small role to play here, probably more than where you live.

Karen13, thanks for your vote of confidence!

Janet, yes, those are the ones. I'm wondering if these floral ones could serve a similar purpose for me. Still trying to figure out if they have potential for that kind of workhorse travel shoe, because if so, they are keepers.

The florals are so subtle, they look more like textured loafers than patterned loafers (nothing wrong with that).
Love the outfit. I love black with blue, and you know I think you look good in shirts the colour of the cardi is beautiful on you.
