Flat iron for curling hair?

I have stick straight hair and do not need the flattening effect, but I would like to try using a flat iron to add a slight bend at the ends. Do you have a favorite, or will anything work for this?

I have wavy/curly hair, but I'm wondering if you wouldn't be better off with a curling iron, as opposed to a flat iron. Is there any reason you would prefer a flat iron?

I think there are some that are both a flat and curling iron. The round outside curls and then there is the flat middle. don't know brands or anything - sorry.

I think any of the slimline ceramic flat irons will do the trick. You can do lots of styles with them, as bella said, check out youtube for specifics.

Thanks everyone. I really just wanted to make sure a cheap model will work fine for my purposes. I did check youtube and I am amazed at how many videos I found on this subject.

ticksgirl, I have a pretty cheap ceramic flat iron which I love - it works just as well as the Chi I used to own. It's Cortex brand and I found it at Winners (equivalent to TJ Maxx) for $40 Cdn. I use it for both straightening and curling - it does lovely ringlets in my daughter's hair!
