Fitting Room: Sweaters at JCrew

I saw that the scarf print sweater is sold out online. If anyone is seriously interested, they just got a few more in at my local store. This one is a medium, and I am generally a 6 or 8 in tops for size reference.

What do you think of these on me? I will withhold my feelings until I hear feedback.

Funny, I knew someone would say that. It was the least compelling in the mirror but photographed the best. What does that mean, I wonder?

I love the houndstooth pattern, but when Angie showed it, it looked really short and does on you, too--high hip. I can only wear that with skirts. How short/long does it feel to you? Not flowy over pants, it seems.

That is very interesting about the photographic difference. Which looks better IRL, do you think? The detail on #1 doesn't come through as much as it might IRL, I expect.

Oh, Angie, I'm glad you chimed in. Deliberate! I tried the grey one last week and liked it but decided to wait. While I am in the mall today (need a new watch battery) I decided to try these too!

What is the composition of the gray one? Is it wool/cashmere?

Janet, I know that the grey and white pullover is REALLY pretty irl. If you say that's the best - I believe you. It's hard not to love you in the blues and greys though. The playful pattern mix in #3 is very suited to your style.

This is very interesting for me to ponder. I'm glad I posted. I have a grey and black houndstooth sweater, but it's quite cropped and fitted cardigan, and I haven't worn it much. Perhaps 3 would be a good replacement, since I love houndstooth.

I haven't decided yet. Reading the responses while I eat some lunch. I make better decisions on a full stomach.

Perhaps there are other grey and white (or just plain white) sweater options for me out there somewhere.

I looked at the pics again and did some thinking.

1 I like a lot of things about this, but I think I'd prefer something with a little more drape. This looks a little stiff or rumply on me. Reminiscent of the sweatshirts I wore in the 70s. I like the white though. I wore my new white leather jacket out last night and loved it, so white is appealing to me now. I think I'll look for a white sweater in a different fabrication.

2 I'm a huge fan of the print. I'm not as sure about the fit after looking more closely at the pic. I'd likely layer over a button-front shirt. Considering buying it and trying some stylings at home. It's a hot seller, so it's a BBQ item! I can always return.

3 This was a wildcard choice, and I wasn't expecting much. It is growing on me though. It would replace something in my closet if I buy it. Again, thinking of getting it and trying some stylings at home.

I actually like all of them on you Janet so I say go with what speaks to you the most IRL.

Good idea to decide on a full stomach - I always think better after a cup of coffee.

I vote yay to #3, I prefer the higher contrast look and I like the fit here. #2, is pretty but I'd like to see it with a curved hem, or longer length. #1, is pretty, I'm eyeballing that one myself. I like the textured look of the lace.
