Fit of these 'hard' trousers?

Yet another day in the struggle to find 'hard' pants that are structured enough but don't fight with my body's natural inclinations lol.
What do you think?

After coming to the epiphany last time that maybe jeans just aren't the right 'hard' casual bottoms for me lol, these are a secondhand pair of Levi's 607 corduroy trousers. I feel like the length is perfect (hello 28" inseam!) but am not sure about the rise. Don't think they're meant to be highwaisted? (11.25" front rise & 14" back rise). I'm 5ft3.5

Both help & commiseration welcome!

They look great! You can pull them down a bit too.

Some Levi's styles do that " whisker thing" at the crotch point. It's a deliberate look.

Do they feel snug enough on the waist?

Do the sit-down test

I'd like to see them 1 to1.5 inches shorter - which you can achieve with a small turn-up.

Gorgeous color!!! Personally I can’t wear mid to low rise because I am so short waisted with a long rise, I need a high rise cut. It looks like they are pulling at the crotch — can you comfortably pull them down so they sit more low waisted? Or do they work their way up?

I think they look good. I do wonder if they aren’t a little big and slide down… they do seem to sag ever so slightly. This is not visually bad, and smaller would maybe be uncomfortable. Hard pants require some trade-offs…

They look like a pretty darned good fit to me! Like Angie, I wonder whether the waist is tight enough not to gap when you sit down. (It could be altered with darts in the back, if need be.)

I think the fit is OK, though I wonder, like Rachylou, if they are slightly on the big/loose side and what a size down would look/fit like. I believe cords are often like jeans in that they tend to loosen up (bag out) with wear. So starting the day with a loose fitting pair can turn into wearing pants with a baggy fit. It's hard to tell, when trying on, how much they'll loosen up!

This seems like a really great direction for you. Do you like Everlane? I think they have had some great cords and non-blue jean cut pants in interesting colors.

I think the length is good. Corduroy tends to bag out with wear, so I’d like to see what a size down looks like.

Thanks for chiming in, everyone Since these are secondhand, I unfortunately can't go down a size I *do*, however, have 2 weeks to return them - hence the debate.

When I sit down in them, the waist does not slide - but perhaps I need to test them for longer? They do feel a little 'hard' at the crotch point, but I might need to wear them a little longer to see if that softens - will report back!

As for the hem, you can see that they're frayed inside - I've been debating either letting them out deliberately, cuffing them further or chopping off all the fraying altogether. What do you think?

Not sure if I'm short waisted too, but I'm definitely not long waisted lol! I'm still trying to figure out my ideal rise - these do sit below my belly button, which is perhaps why I keep trying to hike them up (high-rise feels natural, to avoid slippage). Though I also tried some jeans which were too long in the rise (around 14") & they gave me a phantom 'appendage' lol, so maybe I need something in between - like a 12" or 13" rise? Frustrating!

Where do you see sagging? I was happy to see that there's actually enough space for my rear in these - for once, lol!

Thankfully there's not much waist gape in these (no uncomfy back draft lol), but will test for longer to make sure.

Thanks for the heads up - I have a pair of chocolate cords that don't bag, but I'll test drive these ones for longer to see if they do. Does the size of the corduroy 'reset' after washing them, though?

I've heard of them but have yet to try due to international shipping. Their clothes seem to be cut for taller & thinner folk? But I'll add them to my radar, thanks

The colour is delish, and cut looks good. Can you try wearing them a little lower on your hip? Would you try a belt if they feel like slipping, rather than hiking them up? 11 inches sounds like a mid-rise, and definitely meant to be worn below the belly button, though bodies vary.

Check to see if they bag out when wearing all day. If so, it may get worse over time. They look good in general, but not good if too fussy.

Angie called it whiskering. There’s a wrinkle at the rear under the pocket and at the crease of the thigh. They look good, mind.

I am not an expert on fit but I think they look great. I always find corduroy hard to wear but they really suit you.

They look great on you, though you might see about having the waist taken in a bit. It’s an easy alteration.

Lana, I’m 5’1” tall with a short waist & long rise. I, too, find the high rise pants much more comfortable.

Those look pretty darn good on you! Not sure if the tweaks suggested above might make them even better, but I would wear them as is if they are comfortable. Anyway, I totally get it - Levis that are supposed to fit everyone (I am looking at you 501s) never fit me right or even consistently.

@joy So I wore them all weekend with @carla's suggestion of a belt & found that they did bag over time (moreso on the second day), but nothing too egregious. @Stag will post the outfits in a new thread.

@runcarla Being both short AND short waisted makes it difficult to gauge rise but I suspect you're right - these 11" come to right under my belly button without any tugging (though they form a small V dip in the front). @quinta @Lara What " rise do you wear?

@shevia Am currently eyeing up Levi's 550s instead for the same reasons you mention + hard to shake the feeling that I 'need' jeans!

@quinta22 After my last mishap of buying jeans that were too long in the rise & being told by the lovely YLF ladies that it's not easily fixable, I'm a little wary of 'just taking in the waist' on anything anymore - though you're right, it's a common fit issue for me!

@rachylou Ahh I thought she was referring to the front (crotch) - didn't know whiskering refers to the back too! It's another common fit issue for me - don't know what causes it?

@Sally Thanks! I used to be the same way, but have found narrow waled cords work best on me. I feel too 'rumpled' in wide wale, plus it tends to stick out stiffly on me (instead of moulding to my body).

@Bijou @StyleFan The reddish-brownish colour is what tempted me - so glad they turned out true to the shade on my monitor!
