First outing VC ruched tube skirt

I have finally cut off the tags and decided to keep this skirt. Today was the first outing to work.
Pros:
extremely comfy
high happiness factor
length is adjustable. Because of ruching, I was able to wear it very low on my waist and semi tuck the blouse.
Cons:
I totally dislike it with navy moto jacket. The whole outfit is too dark for my taste especially in summer.

I am wearing mine today too! Love it without the jacket! Although for winter it would work with jacket too.

Well, it looks fantastic. The outfit is dramatic, and I can see why it feels like a lot for summer, but you look great.

All of these look fantastic to me! The skirt is terrific and I particularly love the coral top with the white bag.

I can understand not wanting to wear a lot of dark or a dark topper in summer though (I tend to wear dark only with lots of skin in the summer). But you might see the same outfit in a different way come cooler weather?

Totally love #1 and #2, the pop of white is super with the coral+black combo. How about a light denim jacket or a cropped white jacket instead of the navy?

I think they all look good, but I like Aida's idea of a white jacket on top for summer.

rabbit, I have a really hard time wearing dark colours. This outfit even in winter would not make me happy. The interesting thing is that both jacket and skirt are navy not black but I still find it too dark for my taste.
Aida, you know what is interesting is that the skirt and jacket are navy not black. I must try soon with my white zara or denim jacket.

Oooh they both read as black on my monitor! But you know, even though some people find navy enough lighter than black, I feel the same heaviness in it that I do as with black so I tend to treat them similarly. Perhaps you're the same? The white addition cheers orange+navy up a LOT more than orange+black, surprisingly.

So nice! I agree that the navy jacket too is a bit too much of a good thing, in terms of colour although the proportions look great to me. Maybe a jean jacket?

Looks great with the red blouse. How about Zara cream jacket with it iv navy is too dark?

The skirt looks great and I like the way you styled it. I was going to suggest a lighter shoe, but when I read that you have a lighter jacket...Bob's your uncle. (Did I use that phrase right?)

Aida, I am with you on this. I found this outfit as dark and heavy as black. Now I am having second thoughts about having navy as my core neutral for fall/winter.

Sveta, I was trying to use a different topper than Zara one as I have worn that cream topper endlessly in last few weeks. Looks like, I should have worn that no matter what.
AJ, I think you used that phrase right :)). Lighter summer shoes are a wardrobe hole right now that should be filled soon.

The color of the shirt is so beautiful on you! I like the outfit both with the jacket and without, but I'm not really one with any concern about wearing too many dark colors in summer.

Although I think the jacket looks OK with the skirt, I do prefer it without. How about one of your other colored jackets? A white jacket would look super fab too.

That skirt is so flattering. I think you look gorgeous both with and without the jacket. If it felt too dark for you, I was thinking along the same lines as AJ, that a lighter shoe, perhaps a metallic, could brighten it up a bit, the same way the white bag does, while keeping the sleek line of navy.
