I'm laughing when I think of how I told Angie I was done with shopping for now, apart from shoes and a few basics. Well, these could probably (mostly) be counted as basics. I had an order from Nordstrom and also bought a few things (when I went to BR to return other things...hmmm. Was that supposed to happen?)

Anyhow, with these and with the following K/Rs, please be completely honest; I don't mind! I'm looking for at least 9.5s, if not 10s. Something Angie would threaten to spank me for returning. But if it's "eh", I want to know.

I bought BR's Heritage Shimmer sweater today. I need a cardigan, and instead of talking the talk, I decided to walk the walk of bringing more texture into my wardrobe. This is not a cuddly sweater. It has a hard feel to it, but if it looks good I can appreciate it.

I was resisting getting a denim shirt. I don't know what made me change my mind (though Fernanda looks amazing in hers). And if I was going to get one, I wanted it to be in a medium wash. This one's obviously dark. Also from BR (I think Amy got this one? It looks great on her). I like the cut, and it's much better material than the one I saw in J. Crew.

Everybody has their issue...mine is the bust. Are these pockets doing me no favors? Should I return this? It was reduced in price, a fairly good deal. It's a large and to me, it fits great. It's not a Petite, but I guess I'll be keeping the sleeves up, which is how the store had it.

Oh, and with all these pics, I'm not sure I'd be styling them this way IRL; I was in a rush to get them taken in daylight. I am not wearing an ideal bra (the new ones I cannot put on or take off at the moment). Anyway. Just trying different things.

Not totally loving the sweater. I guess I like them longer. I have a couple that are cropped like this but can't figure out what to wear them with. I think a good denim shirt is a staple. I actually need one but am leaning toward this one that Angie posted before. It looks sort of denimy but a little dressier.

I think that the denim shirt is a keeper - it looks great on you! I also am not sure about the sweater. I think that these shapes/lengths of cardis are hard to style. I pass on that one.

im not totally in love with either piece. i think the pockets don't sit right in relation to your chest on the denim shirt.

That's a consideration, Mellllls (is that enough ls? It's hard to find a denim shirt that doesn't have pockets, which is what I really want.........

Mochi- what are the conditions and fit of your bras? If you don't mind my frankness, I think if the girls had better support and shape from a good bra, these pieces could look much better. Perhaps it's just the photos, but the "girls" seem to be squished and veering south. If that is so, it's not you, it's your bra.

I think I mentioned in the first post, this is not the ideal bra for me...it's an older one from before I lost some weight. I have better-fitting bras, but since my shoulder fracture I can't get them fastened; the band is too tight and it's a struggle. So I had that disclaimer.

ah, a better bra could fix the pocket issue. the shirt is from br? you can hold onto it a bit and wait until you can wear your other bras and retry with this shirt then. sorry to hear about your shoulder.

oh, I apologize Mochi.. I had not read that. I do think the denim shirt has potential, but it is hard to judge without the proper bra.

Nancy, whether you keep *this* denim shirt or not, write down that this is a FANTASTIC color on you. I think with your regular bra, it would be fine. But if you want to hold out for one that doesn't have pockets, I won't fight you. I like the sweater best against the contrast of the denim shirt. I would switch out olive pants for black ones to give the sweater even more pop. Is there a particular style of sweater that you *know* looks fab on you? If so, I'd return to the drawing board and look for a textured sweater in that cut. Hopefully you can find one that's more tactile, too. I hate to think of you trying to keep warm in a scratchy sweater. That's no fun.

It's kind of hard to tell, with the way you are holding the camera...I say probably nay on the sweater and probably yay on the denim shirt :)? How do they feel to you?

I agree with the other posters and say pass on the sweater. I think the denim shirt looks a tiny bit too big. Are you sure you're getting the right sizes? (I noticed this from the thread about the wrap shirt) Maybe you've lost more weight than you thought or are still getting used to buying for your new size.

I vote to pass on the sweater, but I think the denim jacket looks really good! I like structure on you up top.

Heh. Thank you, everyone. I will try a smaller size top, just to see. I agree that while I was preferring a lighter wash, the deep blue is flattering on me. I really like the quality of this BR shirt compared to what I saw at J. Crew (disclaimer that those are the only two I carefully looked at). I think I would like to keep it. The sweater, I think, is just not right for me. I hope someone else here takes up the challenge and finds it really stunning on them. If you don't need your cardigans soft and cashmere-like, and want something with a cool texture that shows the underlayer, this could be your sweater.

I think it is all been said already but the color of the denim shirt is excellent on you! You must find the perfect one in that color.

Then I will keep looking! I can hold onto this shirt in the meantime

If anyone sees a pocketless darkwash denim shirt, please let me know.

Okay, I am late here but I love the wash of that denim on you. Not sure about the sweater or the fit of the shirt, either, but I am hopeful that you'll be able to keep it with the right underlayers (or perhaps in the other size).

Mochi, I think that once you can wear the right bra, that shirt will look great on you!

I'm watching for follow-up to this thread, though, because if you find a nice dark-wash denim shirt with no pockets I want one, too!

How is your shoulder doing?

Thank you for asking, Parsley. I am definitely on the mend and doing physical therapy at home and with a therapist. It will be a few months, but definitely is going to heal.

I have to remember where--I saw a one-pocket shirt I liked recently. That's a compromise. Even when they have pockets, there are subtle pockets and ones that in my eyes are bulky, large and stick out more....I will let you know if I find something good! Other than that, I like this BR shirt. It seems well-made.

I'm glad you're on the mend! It's a long haul, though, isn't it?

I agree about some pockets being less bothersome than others. For me, anyway, the ones with a button flap don't work so well for layering. But maybe a simple flat pocket would be OK. I'll let you know what I find, too.

i was just looking at the br cardigan online and i don't think it even looked great on the model. something about the color seemed off.

I actually liked the cardi's metallic oatmeal color, but it's a rather unstructured shape (which is appealing to me, but for others--it doesn't work on me well; I need things more fitted).

You said to be honest, so here it is. I don't like the sweater at all. And shirt is OK but not 10. Color is nice, and fit can be improved with a good bra, but I think you can do better. Hold on to that one, but keep looking.

Thanks. Sweater is a definite return. Shirt, I'm still hoping I can find something better but at the same time, hoping I can avoid the work by just being happy with the one I have. I will try to post pics with me wearing the shirt with a good bra. Maybe that will fix everything.
