Rather than posting it on my other thread, I thought this would be easier to find.
I spent the night at my parents, spoke to my insurance company, and headed back home to salvage what I could.....only to find out that the northbound freeway (the only freeway through the mountains) was shut down completely yet again and I had to drive four hours around to get there. In the meantime, my BF and friends went over and met the apartment manager who told them they could move my belongings into the empty apartment right in my own complex. We thought my next door neighbors were going to take that one but it turns out they don't have any actual damage from the fire. We were able to move everything that could be saved into that apartment and I will probably be able to stay there but won't know for sure until after the insurance adjustor comes out this week. My insurance will get a hotel for me, but I am staying at my parents until Sunday when my Kiddo comes home. Monday we have school, an appointment with the insurance adjuster and fire investigator, and a dentist appointment for Kiddo. Anything that is porous had smoke damage, and we're not sure what electronics still work, but all of my wooden furniture is mostly fine (although a little worse for wear!) Tomorrow will be spent making calls, returning messages, etc.
Thanks so much for all of the wonderful thoughts and messages. We have a long road ahead to recovery, but we are on our way!
