Update:
These guys are just the most adorable kittens. They're both bonded to each other and now are equally interacting with Ralphie. It took only 5 days for him to start zooming up and down the hallways with them, rolling around and wrestling, and sitting in the windows together. It's very, very heartwarming. I had no idea how therapeutic this would really be. Grateful!

Oh, and it is officially Sonny and Teddy (with white nose). Lou accidentally called them by the opposite names while I was in CA last week. May have identity issues to correct!
Adding some more photos. (The one of them sleeping? Can you even stand the cuteness?)
*********

I haven't exactly been the most cheerful person on the forum for the last 11 months so it's really nice to be able to share....KITTENS. Yes, plural!

First - we said good bye to our 10 year old sweet Bowie in late March, 6 months after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. So hard to make the decision, so incredibly sad, all of it. He was a feral 6 month old kitten who wandered onto our patio and adopted us the month that our older son had just left for college. He must have known I had a lot of extra love to give. He was my most special cat.

Our amazing pet-sitter who is very plugged in to the foster/adoption network in our area alerted us last weekend to a litter of 3 male orange tabbies who were ready to be adopted. We filled out the super long application (that humans should have to fill out to be allowed to have a human baby). 1 was adopted immediately but Monday afternnoon we had a phone interview and 3 hours later drove to a very scary part of DC and met the 2 remaining little fellows, could not separate them, and they now live at our house! We are a 3 tabby family.

3 year old Ralphie has been wary, and feigned indifference but noses have finally been touched, and I am about to release the babies from their quarantine in the room where I exercise. They have been hilariously adorable, especially at 6;30 a.m. and so no exercises have been getting done the last 2 days!

I did have a very frightening middle of the night realization, with the lyrics from one of those new Rolling Stones songs going through my head as I calculated how old we'll be if these guys live to 15+...."Is my future all in the past?"

I felt better the next morning.

Meet Teddy (with the white nose) and ....we're not sure yet. Thinking Randy (Ralphie's little brother in Christmas Story) or Sonny, which was my Dad's nickname. Taking all suggestions!

And farewell to sweet Bowie.
